Governments are ran by people and people are not that trust worthy
when it comes to power and money. Look at what FDR did and more
scary what he tried to do. Heck, Bill Clinton took several
thousands of acres of land from a state with nothing more than a
stroke of a pen. G.H. Bush made a group of firearms illegal with
nothing more than a stroke of a pen.


We choose freedom from government promoted hysteria. Some don't
have that freedom of choice.

For the most part people get the form of government they deserve.
If a people are cowards they get a government that has no problem
killing anyone who tries to stand up against it. If a people are
weak the get a government that runs their lives. If a people are
strong they get a government that respects them.

Through out history 'governments' have killed a lot more of the
people they were governing than criminals have. And to be honest
with you I rather sit in my house with a firearm and worry if a
criminal might try to rob me than sit in my home with or without a
firearm and worry that the government might try arrest me because I
don't support it.

Your first point is, IMO, the greater problem here. The percentage of
people owning firearms was much higher in the early part of the 1900's than
it was in the later part but the crime rate was much lower. What did change
was the enforcement of the laws on the books and the punishment a convicted
criminal could expect.

weapon that could be used for self defense we would all be better off. The
laws have changed to restrict the innocent thus allowing the cowardly to use

We do not have or need soldiers on our streets. Cops are seen in cars,
occasionally, and sometimes downtown on the streets. Their weapons are
locked in a holster that is never opened without just cause and a
written report follows if they do.

We do not have fear of being shot by a drunk in a bar, friend, loved
one, or a cop. It just doesn't happen. Hunting accidents do happen
about once per every few years. That is being attempted to stop it
also.

USanians are turned away from our borders everyday with their
insecurity weapons. We don't need them or want them. They would be
considered criminals and arrested.

Also, Every Saturday of quail season Mr. Brown would walk his bird dog ( on
a leash ) from one side of town to the other with his double barrel shotgun,
breach open across his arm, to view it to be unloaded on his way to his
hunting location. It is still not against the law to carry a hunting gun in
view and unloaded any where. You can not conceal a fire arm or carry it
loaded. If this concept is hard to grasp think of the idiot or very old or
drunk behind the wheel of a car. It happens every day and not all are
caught. I think the car is as dangerous as a fire arm handled by the
mentally weak. I do think the closer to urban living the need of a hunting
gun diminishes. The rural folks have a different life style. Different

When you are in the company of other folks. They must all be gentlemen or
are you in the shadow of a police officer at all times?, never in the
company of one who would take advantage of any opportunity to remove an
article of value from you. Are they all equally matched in strength and
weight? Could they do harm to you without fear of being damaged them selves?
If you consider the many folks ( of all nationalities ) trained to kill with
their hands, as I have been in the military. A firearm or any other
defensive weapon is just a tool that renders the owner more than equal. I
have friends whom I do not want harmed so I do not feel I have the right to
deny them personal protection. In the real world no one is equal to any one
else in any measurement method. Legislation can not change this. As long as
we have criminals or mentally challenged people that are among us, because
they are hard to separate from the mentally stable there is going to be a
problem, not the tool ( gun, knife, tazer or mace ). Drugs and greed are
catalysts to violence problems.
