Yes, the world is in a big mess when men will belittle their wives like
this.
BTW, I suspect the whole thing was staged.

If not... only a matter of time before she realizes that she married
down in the looks department and finds a better looking man and/or one
who respects her and dumps that douche-bag.

I thought he was kinda cute (grin), But not as cute as the Jehovah's
Witness who came to my door this morning. She could have talked me
into anything, but my wife was there.

Here's a similar problem for everyone who thinks they are lots smarter
than the women in the story.

Assume one person can paint a room in 1 hour, and a second (slower)
person can paint a similar room in 2 hours. How long will it take them
to paint such a room together.

it's an algebra problem. Don't get distracted..lol.

I think the fact that they are man & wife is ancillary.
It speaks to a complete lack of respect he has for someone he is
supposed to love the most. It could be any close relationship.

Not sure how I lose, when you're basically agreeing with me in your last
statement.

IIRC, Mr. Guthrie said if you're smart enough to understand the problem
and show the work, he was certainly smart enough to deduce the variables
from the (con)text of the problem, and your answer.

Smart man, that Mr. Guthrie ... and hard to argue with.

The article said her brain was "fried" from studying for finals the
previous day. When you're tired or go through that kind of mental
stress, ordinary things just don't work out.

I haven't watched the video (and probably won't.)

One problem in this case is, I think, that "MPH" is not adertised as a
"rate". As demonstrated, if you don't have some interest in such
things, you could miss it. I still remember when it clicked for me that
MPH was a rate. Why do they teach students that triangles have 3
sides? If teachers are going to do that they should just call them
trisides. It seems everyone wants to make it difficult on the student!

Some marriages work, others apparently don't. And sometimes a couple
marries because one of the partners needs health insurance that's
unobtainable outside marriage. Which says loads about the state of
health insurance.

It isn't a math problem. It's an English problem. I think a staged
problem as well. Nevertheless, it is a pitiful example of what humans
can
do to other humans, on many levels.

i don't see how it's an english problem. What's pitiful, is that she was
too busy ****ing around in the bathroom with her makeup and cell phone
to pay attention in math class. (if it's for real).

One problem in this case is, I think, that "MPH" is not adertised as a
"rate". As demonstrated, if you don't have some interest in such things,
you could miss it. I still remember when it clicked for me that MPH was
a rate. Why do they teach students that triangles have 3 sides? If
teachers are going to do that they should just call them trisides. It
seems everyone wants to make it difficult on the student!

but the boy said several times "MILES PER HOUR". it has nothing to do
with rate. She's just stupid.

Yes, the world is in a big mess when men will belittle their wives
like this.
BTW, I suspect the whole thing was staged.

If not... only a matter of time before she realizes that she married
down in the looks department and finds a better looking man and/or
one who respects her and dumps that douche-bag.

All of which totally dumps the institution of marriage. Sorry Mike -
you lose with your comment. Just a reflection of today's society.

Given the stats that 80% of marriages will experience extramarital sex
by one or both parties, who cares? Screw marriage. It's overrated.
By age 18, I had seen enough of marriage not to want it, ever.

Some marriages work, others apparently don't. And sometimes a couple
marries because one of the partners needs health insurance that's
unobtainable outside marriage. Which says loads about the state of
health insurance.

Some divorce to get coverage like the elderly couple across the street.
He suffered several debilitating strokes and required in home care
that she was unable to provide. Their choices were do divest themselves
of all assets or divorce leaving her with what assets they had. The
division of assets left his finances in a state able to qualify for
government coverage which also says loads about the state of things.

I get my news from the local newspaper, WSJ (neigbor's dad can't read
it any more so I got a year's subscription), and news websites. It's
truly painful to hear commercials or TV anchors spew their **** any
more, it really is. Sensationalized guesswork, at best. Downright
lies at worst. Pass.

Do you think the percentage is really that low? sigh /cynicism

If that's the case, I feel really sorry for you, Steve.
I still have a TV set, but I only show movies on it.
No paid TV feed for 5+ years now, thank Crom.

Of course. There is a young couple who in all likelihood eventually will
marry. One has medical insurance, the other doesn't or is about to lose
it. Should they marry now or later? Or any of similar situations. Such
as a couple of seniors. One with, one without (but with medical needs).
