It was not over revving. It simply accelerated VERY quickly and
loudly, with a lot of power released ni one moment, to spin the engine
up very fast.

They say "USE HEARING PROTECTION WITHIN 50 FEET", but in reality it is
not so bad, EXCEPT in front of the exhaust/radiator. I would say, it
is a pleasant, soothing sound.

That's not what happened.

When the generator started for real the first time, I thought that by
accident I bought a smoke generator, instead of electrical generator.

It was just spewing storm cloud sized stream of dark gray smoke. It
actually started off slow, coughed a lot, spewed smoke in enormous
amounts, then sped up and ran nicely and clearly.

I will try to record a video of its "cold start" if you like that sort
of stuff. It is kind of remarkable for how it smokes for the first 5
seconds when started cold.

Cold diesel engines without emissions controls do spew a lot of
vaporized diesel "smoke". Does the engine have glow plugs to assist
starting?

It does not have glow plugs. Instead, it has a special cold start
assist, an ether delivery system that shoots a measured amount of
ether into the intake manifold.

I bought what seems to be a wrong ether bottle, so the cold start
assist does not work, but I will try to find the right bottle.

I have only one MEP-006A generator and I will be definitely selling

I guess I confused you with someone else firing up a genny for the first
time and they were EXCEPTIONALLY concerned that it started to "runaway"

Ive fired up a bunch of diesels over the years...a smokey cold start is
nothing new. But perhaps others would be interested

actually started off slow, coughed a lot, spewed smoke in enormous
amounts, then sped up and ran nicely and clearly.

I will try to record a video of its "cold start" if you like that sort
of stuff. It is kind of remarkable for how it smokes for the first 5
seconds when started cold.

i

I guess I confused you with someone else firing up a genny for the first
time and they were EXCEPTIONALLY concerned that it started to "runaway"

You're thinking of the standalone diesel engine he has sitting in his
trailer that he's been playing with.

Nicely done!

What was the problem with the over reving?

It was not over revving. It simply accelerated VERY quickly and
loudly, with a lot of power released ni one moment, to spin the engine
up very fast.

i

Ill bet your heart was in your mouth until you figured that out huh?

That's not what happened.

When the generator started for real the first time, I thought that by
accident I bought a smoke generator, instead of electrical generator.

It was just spewing storm cloud sized stream of dark gray smoke. It
actually started off slow, coughed a lot, spewed smoke in enormous
amounts, then sped up and ran nicely and clearly.

That was a Detroit Diesel, not this generator.

I'm not sure, but I think he needs to get a tach (optical?) on it to see
if it's really over speeding, or just loud as hell inside the trailer.

I could have sworn that another generator was right next to the one

It was a trailer, but not a generator.

Oh, you put the "connestoga kit" on it. I didn't realize how wide it
was in the video until I looked again. Mea culpa.

I also forgot that he bought that other trailer with the connestoga
kit (whatever they're called) and sold it, keeping the tarp and hoops.
I knew he had two of something there at some time. g

I disagree - if there were _TRUE_ Freedom, nobody would have any excuse
to make war - every transaction would be for the mutual benefit of the
individuals involved. People don't make wars - governments and religions
do.

Imagine three farmers - farmer A raises chickens, farmer B raises potatoes,
and farmer C grows vegetables and herbs.

At harvest time, farmer A has three chickens, farmer B has three pounds of
potatoes, and farmer C has three pecks of vegetables and herbs.

Farmer A says to B: "I'll trade you a chicken for a pound of potatoes," and
he says to C: "I'll trade you a chicken for a peck of vegetables and herbs."
Farmer B, who now has a chicken and two pounds of potatoes, goes to farmer
C, who has a chicken and two pecks of veggies & herbs. B and C trade a pound
of potatoes for a peck of veggies and herbs.

And then they all have chicken stew! EVERYBODY benefits from the Free
Market!

Cheers!

You should keep as low of profile as possible, that looks like one of
those neighborhoods that someone will call in the troupes.

Like what happened to me when my neighbor and another got into it. The
other one thought that simi trailer was theirs and thus called them
up. The day after the trailer left town the dude shows up asking where
it went. I told him probably Nebraska by now. He gave me $1,100 in
potential fines ranging from stumps in the bushes that had been there
when I bought the house to the missing fence between the two houses,
if not fixed with 30 days. I was really surprised that I got away with
it in the first place. The trailer was there a good month while I
fixed it and packed it and it stretched from the edge of the sidewalk
to the back of both houses.

Glad I moved. I drew up a comparison once and the last place was like
the size of a postage stamp and this place is the full size envelope
it goes on.

The city code enforcement officer was not happy with me because the
evidence was gone.

I checked out the law and tractor trailer rigs are not allowed in that
neighborhood unless you are moving and they can only be there in the
daylight. I couldn't afford Mayflower Moving Company to do the job and
they probably wouldn't move all my machines anyhow, so I had no
choice. The lady who called it in must have told him that it had been
there a month.

So, if he couldn't give me a fine for the violation he would make up
some to punish me.

No Problem

I stopped taking the Libertarians seriously in 2001 after some of
the Libertarians on an email list I was on, decided they had to go and
do the "moral"thing, and become human shields to protect Palestinians
from the Israeli government. I asked then, were they serious, why
were they not offering to act as human shields to protect the Israeli
civilians threatened by suicide bombers on the busses? Dead silence.

It is nice to believe that all you have to do is have True Freedom
to avoid war. But ignoring the fact that Original Sin seems to be the
only doctrine which has empirical support, does not make those
inclined to physical violence "go away". Having the freedom to do
what ever you want with no one to stop you, also means that there is
no one to stop some one else from doing what ever they want to do to
you.
