Here is a list including every state of Who is eligible for the vaccine.
It's dated Version 26: January 27, 2021, and doesn't indicate who was eligible last week or next week, but it's probably accurate wrt the date issued. (26 versions in only 2 or 3 months. I think the version changes even when only one state changes who's eligible, and they update it more than once a week.) https://www.walgreens.com/images/ada...3%2C513%2C0%5D Walgreens say "The COVID-19 vaccine is on the way. As pharmacy experts, this is what we train for. We're ready to deliver vaccinations safely in accordance with state-specific eligibility requirements." And I'm sure they are since they gave me a flu shot. I had to ask her her name though, it wasn't on her jacket. Of course i want to know her name. But this is the same message for the whole country, and maybe Canada ;-) . It doesn't say when they'll start, and I doubt they know when they will start. They're 4 blocks away so it would be very convenient. They're usually quiet but if they make it first come, first served, they won't be. Maryland knows how to make appointments, but will drugstores? Maybe. And btw, Illinois is the only state that lists prisoners as being eligible. Eventually that will change, at last at the very end. Someone who really cares can use Find at the link above. |

Maybe. The use of private pharmacies has been going on here a week or two. The problem is the available shots sell out in seconds. All of the majors are ready to go as soon as they can come up with the juice |

The huge mistakes here were the feds lowering the age to 65 and leaving it at the discretion of the states as to what to do. Most governors, eg Cuomo, Murphy, DeSantis were stupid and just lowered it right to 65, plus they included people under 65 that had pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure, smoking, obesity, or just being overweight. In other words they pretty much opened it up to everybody. That lead to a totally predictable cluster f***, compounded by the fact that despite having 9 months to get systems in place, few locations were prepared with websites, phone banks, etc. The predictable results are crashed websites, phone banks that have people on hold for 4 hours, then disconnect, old people in long lines at 3AM. Now the morons like Cuomo and deBlasio are whining, that there isn't enough vaccine. Yet everyone knew that the ramp up would be slow and it was their job to successfully manage it. The ramp up has been about what was forecast two months ago. What they should have done was slowly work their way down in age and the feds should have suggested it. It just shows the incompetence of govt, yet the libs want the govt to do more. Next they are going to create a new, wonderful green energy economy, while killing off the existing one and it's jobs, eg XL pipeline. |

There are two vaccination days scheduled for my area in Nebraska. The first one is for people who turn 89 and over this year. The second one is for people who are 84 this year. One either has to be a resident of my county or already receive medical care here. |

You sign up and wait for the call. There was no "short window" thing and the site worked just fine. It is still a problem of supply and demand. Florida had a huge problem that we have a disproportional number of snowbirds at this time of year and most are over 65. |

Florida had a huge problem that we have a disproportional number of snowbirds at this time of year and most are over 65. Which is why it was dumb to open it to everyone over 65 all at once. Here in NJ, there is also a state website to register. But it's mired in confusion. Starting with that they tell you an alternate route is to sign up at any of the 200+ places giving the vaccine. And they have never said what the state database directs to. The state has 6 mega sites, I would expect that it directs you to at least those, probably only those, but no one knows. Further confusing it is that on the list of 200+ places, the six mega sites are listed first. Each place has a link for it. For the state mega sites, only one has the state registration website as the link. All the others take you to a hospital, etc that is running that particular state site. Go there and they are taking reservations too, though sporadically. So, its not clear what list these mega sites pull from, whether you should try to register everywhere. Totally unnecessary mass confusion and tremendous waste of people's time. |

The huge mistakes here were the feds lowering the age to 65 and leaving it at the discretion of the states as to what to do. You said before that it was always at the discretion of the states, which means they coudl have lowered it to 65 no matter what the feds suggested. . Most governors, eg Cuomo, Murphy, DeSantis were stupid and just lowered it right to 65, plus they included people under 65 that had pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure, smoking, obesity, or just being overweight. In other words they pretty much opened it up to everybody. That's an unwarranted stretch. And no state or the CDC has a rule that admits people who are "just...overweight". The standard is obese, which is defined. For example, "A BMI of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight. A BMI of 30 and above is considered obese." And which can very often be determined just by looking at someone. That lead to a totally predictable cluster f***, compounded by the fact that despite having 9 months to get systems in place, few locations were prepared with websites, phone banks, etc. The predictable results are Yes, it's pretty impressive how unprepared they have been in many or most states. Trump would see here only the word "impressive" and think it was a success. It also seems that in some rather prepared states, one is supposed to sign up with the county, with a drugstore or 2 or 3, with your doctor's medical practice, and with your insurance company, and wait to see who calls or emails you first, an inconvenience to you, while to some extent or other using up the resources of all the ones that don't contact you first. For one thing, after people are called and they get their shot and an appointment for the second one, most people won't, even if there is a procedure and there might not be, bother to take their names off the lists at the other places they've signed up. If things were done just right, they'd get their names removed there, but I doubt that will happen, and they will be scheduled in to the detriment of others who could have been scheduled. Scheduling means an email is sent asking the person to pick a day and time, and when he doesn't reply, aftr enough time has passed, that could enable them (the computer) to write someone else, but at the very least that means the other person gets 2 days' less notice. The possible problems are endless and I don't know how it's set up but it couldn't be efficicient or fair to have aggressive people signing up for 2 or more sources, and normal or passive people just signing up for one. This all refers to where it's working "well". crashed websites, phone banks that have people on hold for 4 hours, then disconnect, old people in long lines at 3AM. Terrible. Someone here praised Florida recently but that was the case at least one place, probably more when Florida started. Now the morons like Cuomo and deBlasio are whining, that there isn't enough vaccine. Yet everyone knew that the ramp up would be slow Yes, but they were told how much they were going to get, the offered appointments based on that and it was their job to successfully manage it. Manage it, not less than it. The ramp up has been about what was forecast two months ago. What they should have done was slowly work their way down in age and the feds should have suggested it. Now you're calling it a suggestion again, but at the top, you said it was a mistake to leave it to the discretion of the states. And earlier you said it was always at the discretion of the states. Anyhow, the feds did suggest starting with old people and working the way down. They just went down faster than was possible, but acc. to you the states didn't have to do what was suggested. It just shows the incompetence of govt, yet the libs want the govt to do more. ROTFLOL. Next they are going to create a new, wonderful green energy economy, while killing off the existing one and it's jobs, eg XL pipeline. In the past you would have blamed the right person, trump who either doesn't care or actually rejoices in how many people he can kill without going to jail, and the slugs he chose to run things, but since he's gone, even though his mess remains, you've turned your sights on liberals again. |

There are two vaccination days scheduled for my area in Nebraska. The first one is for people who turn 89 and over this year. The second one is for people who are 84 this year. One either has to be a resident of my county or already receive medical care here. Sounds old, but fair. And related to another thread here, if they can show they are getting medical care in your county, a jurisdiction that gives elevated priortiy to those with certain medical conditions could let those people show it in the same way people in your county show they have been getting medical care there. I hope they can schedule more days soon, for you and me both. |

Talking to the parents of my friend, who were still there 50 years later, I learned it's not that cold there anymore. It is hotter in downtown DC in the summer than downtown Ft Myers. We seldom se much over 95, DC gets over 100 and far less fresh air or sea breeze. |

Now the morons like Cuomo and deBlasio are whining, that there isn't enough vaccine. Yet everyone knew that the ramp up would be slow and it was their job to successfully manage it. Florida had a huge problem that we have a disproportional number of snowbirds at this time of year and most are over 65. Which is why it was dumb to open it to everyone over 65 all at once. That was just the window for the open appointments. There are separate programs for nursing homes and other groups. The VA seems to have the best deal but you have to be in their medical system. Where are those drive thru testing sites that Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, etc that Trump said were about to open last March? Anyone see the national database that Trump swore Google had 2500 engineers working on that was going to direct people to test sites? Meanwhile what should have been created was a national, uniform website for people to register for the vaccine. Trump had 9 months, did nothing, just punted it. |

You said before that it was always at the discretion of the states, which means they coudl have lowered it to 65 no matter what the feds suggested. It was Trump that left it to the states, he did not have to. And AFAIK, no state went to 65 until the CDC changed the guidelines, in other words they were following them. I had thought about that too, that there could be a big problem coming soon as they start to choose people who have already been vaccinated. If they just scheduled them for Monday, then you could have empty spots because no one shows up. But they aren't doing it that way anywhere that I've heard. The limited view I've had here in NJ, looks like they notify way more people then there are actual spots available. A friend of mine got notified at 8PM by email that he could make an appointment for any of the next three days. It was about an hour and 15 mins later when he went online. After entering his code and trying to get the appointment it told him, no more appointments, see you later. Yes, that's the potential problem that I saw too. But when you actually do it via the process in use here, it can't happen. This is a simple queuing theory problem and there are plenty of experts and solutions available. Unfortunately the stupid govts just rolled their own. Registration should have started in an orderly fashion back in early fall. And people should have been told that a random pull system, based only on age and conditions would be used, ie there is no advantage to be trying to be the first to call or log in. What I'm saying is the feds either could have made the rules fixed or if not, then when they went to 65 they should have strongly suggested to the states that they only move to people that are 65 in situations where there is excess vaccine and they can't find other, more urgent people. I think they just botched this. At the time there were reports that only 10% of the vaccine was being given and I think the feds reacted to that, trying to give the states flexibility. But they should have then made it clear that moving to 65 is only if it's really necessary, that it's OK temporarily so that vaccine does not got to waste, etc. That's not true. I've always been against big govt, because it's obvious how incompetent, inefficient, much of govt is. This is a classic example. Nine months to put a scheduling system and the resources in place and they basically did almost nothing until the vaccine was about to ship. |

She'd been there and thought it was too hot! That AC exists didn't change that for her. Some old people can't take the cold in the North, but I dont' remember ever hearing my mother complain about that in Allentown, Pa. or Baltimore (which is I think warmer than Allentown) nor when she was younger in even colder places. Talking to the parents of my friend, who were still there 50 years later, I learned it's not that cold there anymore. It is hotter in downtown DC in the summer than downtown Ft Myers. We seldom se much over 95, DC gets over 100 and far less fresh air or sea breeze. Florida is among the states I have never had any desire to live. Flat and hot - yuk. We thank you for that. Tell your friends, tell your neighbors. It sucks down here. It is hot. We have snakes, alligators, hurricanes and roaches the size of your thumb. This is not a place for girly men. Sip your latte and look out the window at the rain. |

It gets **** hot in DC if you are inside the beltway. (100 or more on a hot day) |

Last night's snowfall underperformed. I can still see grass poking up through it. We expect to see the sun in a couple of days. Woohoo! Yeah, I see a lot of grass and it's supposed to be in the 40's this week. I don't mind using my snow shovel for a lawn ornament but the snowpack is below normal. Winter isn't over yet thought. Where you are altitude is the deciding factor. There are places up in the mountains where the snow never melts. If I hit the lotto, I would have a house in Montana and one here. |

Then they were out and about bugging the snow removal crews after it was over. School kids here got a real snow day. I haven't noticed any snowmen yet. The snowmen had a rally in Omaha, and then they all went to the Capital, surrounded it, and froze all the nigh****chmen to death. |

The trade off is July and August when I'm sitting in AC, not outside. I've survived the last last 40 years without needing much A\C, although a couple of my vehicles had it, but it was rarely used. In the car I never used the AC until it was over 90 (although in the last couple years I've been decadent). At home my AC has been broken for years, but even without the fan below, there are only 6 to 8 days a summer when I really want it. I have a laundry chute in the 2nd floor hall and I found a fan that fits the opening, and I run it to blow cool air from the basement to the second floor. Not sure but I think it lowers the temp 2-3 degrees, which is often the margine between bad and good. . |

This morning the TV weatherman was running a shovel across the plowed street, showing there was no snow there, but wow, look over here on the side, it's a foot deep where the plow threw it. I turned it off. |
