Maxie, it is clear you have no taste at all. You think BMWs are cool, when
even pillocks like Clarkson would not allow in on the cool board at all, not
even to be hot.

Ok, what has a Prius got to do with DIY ?

Apart from the fact that cars/technology like it may actually help save
this world from it's current self destruction due to the current
occupant's obsession with 1mpg gas guzzling 4x4's just used to go down
to the shop round the corner ?

no flames, please - they create carbon dioxide.

Very nice.

Do you remember the mid-90s, when Audis went all slab-sided and ugly?
Well a Prius is like that, done to Toyotas. I've seen a few, all in
silver - which is usually an indication that the car's a bloated munter
and looks awful in any darker colour.

From 50-70 it will outperform my milk float I admit. It is however
only 2/3 as fast as a Ford Focus, slower than a Rav4 and much slower
than Skoda Octavia. In fact not much else is slower on the flat and
nothing (other than my milk float) is slower on a hill.

Just had a look.... how many models of Prius do they do?

Because the only one I could find, they said managed sixty in a rather
sedate 11 secs. That may not be the slowest vehicle on the road, but it
is certainly not "no time at all"...

It is supposed to get to 60 in two weeks reading you and your fellow

5 series in mid acceleration.

The new Highlander hybrid gets to 60 in 7.3 secs, if you like silliness of

Autocar got an overall fuel consumption of 23 mpg with the Prius - far
worse than any similar performance diesel.

All the Prius is good for is as a town car used continually in very heavy

What a fool. Only if you compare it with a manual 5 Series in the wrong

Since the Prius has a CVT auto transmission, the fair comparison would be
with an auto whatever.

Automatic gearboxes have been available for some 50 years. And the vast

Keen drivers may well still prefer a manual. But then no keen driver would

29mpg - who are they trying to fool that this is environmentally
friendly?

The idea with hybrid cars is supposed to be that they are more fuel
efficient. My car can manage 65mpg happily with a normal engine - and
still stays above 50mpg with 4 adults onboard and a shedload of stuff
in the back (it's an estate).
