Photos he https://www.dropbox.com/sh/joye1z5eo...qvrp0KhZa?dl=0 I had something very similar, on a very similar lampholder, and ended up buying a whole new lamp, to my annoyance. I think they go in with cables fitted and not intended to be removed. I didn't want to mess with the risk of the cable coming out of the holder, or changing the cable and it shorting on the metal, etc. I'd be interested if you learn how to do it - my replacement is little better. I seem to go through halogens quite quickly - not sure if that is due to the heat, vibration, poor holder, or what... Jon N |

Photos he https://www.dropbox.com/sh/joye1z5eo...qvrp0KhZa?dl=0 Some of your photos look as if the ceramic socket is held down by two projections on the outer screwed sleeve. If so, turn the socket anticlockwise slightly to disengage the projections, then pull. I found a manufacturer's photo of the pendant he https://ef8e76c3b107e0f88bb3-56e22c8.../EL283-5SB.jpg but it gives less detail than your photos. According to TinEye it was first found in 2008. The lamp was sold by Endon Lighting but is no longer available. Another possibility is that the brass cups screw off the stems. If you do get the socket out, you won't find an exact replacement, but maybe it could be cleaned up to work again. -- Dave W |

Photos he https://www.dropbox.com/sh/joye1z5eo...qvrp0KhZa?dl=0 Isn't that just an Edison screw to G9 converter in the lampholder? https://tinyurl.com/y29xfj8j It possible just screws out BUT possibly as with some spotlights it got so hot that now almost impossible to actually move. In the past with seized screw in spotlight bulbs I had to smash the glass to gain access to the base to peal it out using a pair of pliers - something you are unlikely to achieve with a fitting like that. -- mailto : news {at} admac {dot} myzen {dot} co {dot} uk |

Probably 35 to 40W LED with give the equivalent to 200W tradition bulb. With a LED panel type the fitting will be no more than 6 inches below the ceiling and with possibly 180 to 240 degrees of beam angle. -- mailto : news {at} admac {dot} myzen {dot} co {dot} uk |

Took it down - part of the holder removes leaving behind a couple of metal contacts - one of which is arced away - cannot remove that part - I suspect the wiring is holding it. The screwes boss for the shade doesn't budge - The bin beckons. |

: JohnP wrote: Made some progress. After breaking the brittled screwed shade spigot, I found it was threaded onto a stub (and possibly glued) I then realised it was fairly standard to went to local Lamp specialist and bought a new lampholder (and spare). Took opportunity to look at new fittings but didn't see any suited to my humble abode. Tried to screw one onto the threaded stub but it wouldn't engage. Eventually it fractured into crumbs. Tried the spare - trillmed the thread a bit and used some glue. It works but the shade thread length is a bit incompatible, Screw on the shade and in falls off the inner end of the thread.. Would like LED - but a Halogen is 400 lumens and I want dimmable. |

Bill Have you ever looked around a lighting shop? So many hang too low - or are not going to give the output I need. I would reject the vast majority - mine is at the "simpler" end of the range. Only one lighting point in the lounge - not wanting to add another. |

I had to replace a couple of light fittings a month or so ago. Trying to use LED lamps instead of incansdescent had been a disaster: the LEDs didn't draw enough current to overcome the corrosion which had set in on the SES holders. I found, on the internet, fittings which are only about 4" from the ceiling and they have LED heads - lights.co.uk (but they are a German firm) have a look at the website -- from KT24 in Surrey, England "I'd rather die of exhaustion than die of boredom" Thomas Carlyle |
