very easily when it just looks like a puddle

Try going round the unknown then.

Not possible when there is nothing but puddles.

Well it's never happened to me.

I don't believe you.

I look where I'm going.

Not even possible with your head up your arse.

Grow up.

Did that more than half a century ago thanks.

Ah, senility then.

Very few people have damaged their car on a pothole.

Presumably because most aren't bad enough to do that.

Or even 99% of them. My point entirely.

Nope.

Yes, most potholes do not damage cars.

In fact outside this newsgroup I only know of one, and she's a woman.

A likely story.

It's true.

A likely story.

Very likely, 100% likely in fact.

The trouble with 3cm potholes is that they rapidly become 6cm ones
and 6cm ones become 12cm ones. Then they really are nasty.

There is no proof that they grow in this way.

no proof, I just watch it happen, especially when there's heavy rain
or
frost.

You must live on another planet, because I've never seen that happen.
I've seen plenty roads with small potholes that just stay that way for a
decade. In fact there's one on the main road in my town that's been
there for the 15 years I've lived here.

same planet, different highway authority.

Mine loves to throw away money. They're giving all the council houses new
bathrooms at the moment. Why?

Maybe the stench from all those dregs who never
use the bathroom is killing people in droves.

But it's only killing the tenants, maybe they're losing rent? Oh hang on they're all on benefits.

Lights make it light. This is basic Physics. About 5 years ago, I regarded you as one of the more sensible people on newsgroups, but you're definitely going senile recently.

If you understood basic physics, you would know that statement is just
rubbish.

Lights make it a BIT less dark.

Car headlights do not illuminate the road surface ahead of you to
anything *like* the extent that normal daylight does.

If you have your lights on, it is still dark.

And even in the small area illuminated by those lights, it is still an
order of magnitude darker than it would be in daylight.

Which makes it much harder to distinguish between shallow puddles and
deep holes filled with water.

You really do have a very limited imagination.

You have the imagination of a 6 year old.

That's the sort of banter I would expect in a school playground from a 4
year old.

Stop reusing my insults.

Because, Prof Hawkins, it's a black hole on a black road in the
dark -
and in the rain you have no chance as they all look like puddles.

It's not dark with your lights on.

One day, you really must learn to drive.

Then you will *maybe* stop making such ludicrous statements on the
subject.

On the other hand, you are probably well aware of these things and are
just trolling.

We have spoken about this before, remember?

Only because of the sheer number of idiots in here with the wrong

That would be just the one.

Namely YOU.

What is it with you?
Why the hell do you persue your attempts to educate the ****wit PHucker?
You must be the most naive poster (Global Villager) on the planet.
Bloody funny though.
Thank you for a most hilarious Sunday night/Monday morning.
LMFAO.

From that page:

Making Sheffield brighter

We are replacing the street lights with state of the art Light Emitting
Diode
(LED) technology. LEDs provide brighter 'white light' to improve
visibility
and safety as well as being energy efficient.

IMHO, this is wrong. LED lighting provides a hell of a lot more _glare_,
but (to me, strangely), less _illumination_. And there is a hell of an
increase in light pollution, too. At least, wherever I have seen LED
lighting (streets, business premises, domestic "security" lights, car
headlights, etc etc etc.

Further, these new street lights are going to have to stay working
flawlessly for a bloody long time, to justify the (I imagine) horrifying
expense that is going into installing them.

Well talk about timing. I got LED streetlights fitted today. New heads only.
And what pile of ****e they are. Not a patch on the new column and head LED
lamps in my parents village.

Installation costs? Dunno what they paid for the head units but I have just
checked my CCTV for the labour costs.

Here is a comprehensive review of how long it takes to do the job.

Van cherry picker and two blokes arrived at 8:50:15.
Work started at 8:50:26
8:52:18 the cherry picker rises
8:58:30 the cherry picker is back down on the floor and the old head has
been removed and the new one has been fitted.
8:59:05 blonde bird walks past
8:59:35 cherry picker ****s of leaving electrician still working on
electrics in lighting column. No idea what he is doing as by this time I
could have hooked up a fly lead from the post to a caravan and tested the
supply.
9:03:30 Cherry picker returns
9:08:40 Cherry picker ****s off with electrician

Job done

The word "gymnasium" comes from the? Ancient Greek "gymnos" (naked) and "zein" (to train).
So literally the word "gymnasium" means a "building for naked exercise".

The person with the different opinion is not necessarily the one with the wrong opinion. For example, most of the world is religious, and anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows they're fools.

I never said it was necessarily the case.

But with you, here (and in most of your posts), it certainly is.
