Sorry, you total retard, but stealing is NOT a freedom. It is a
criminal act. For you not to know this mean that you are an obvious
criminal. For you not to understand that premise is even worse.

Jack-offs like you are what threaten our freedoms more than
anything.

How can you steal something you legally purchased?
Sounds to me like you're the jack-off.
BTW how old are you? Can you even remember when citizens had to fight
to preserve the freedoms you seem so willing to throw away to whatever
crooked corporation or corrupt politician?
Or maybe you're one of the Jack-offs that stand to profit from illegal

Don't try to use logic on him, it just confuses him and makes him angry.

Such folks get access, and legal access to such streams, and they get
said access with hardware unavailable to consumers.

For the school scenario... too ****ing bad. Buy the disk. They are
fully indexed. Move to desired scene. Where's the problem, you
retarded dip****s? School books cost over $50 each so a mere $20 for
a ****ing DVD is nothing.

In years past, a school had to lease a 16 print of a film at very
high rates, back when dollars had considerably more value.

You are a goddamned retard to think that a school that wanted to
show a segment of a film for educational purpose could do it cheaper
with an extraction and copy session than by buying the ****ing disc to
begin with and merely moving to the desired location.

My time is worth way too much to sit around in a retarded edit
session, compiling ****ing snippets. BUY the ****ing disc, and the
****ing job is done. It's called chapter search. All players have
the feature. Get a ****ing clue, retard boy.

That's right. It was costly as ****. Just because a new form

Sure, they are allowed to use excerpts from films legally, but they

I clicked all the links and found the 'shop' where they sell the
t-shirts. $20 for a t-shirt, huh? West Coast prices :-) Didn't see any
mention of wallet cards or badges that you could use on the internet to
impress the serfs.
Found a way to send money via PayPal to a seedy street address recipient
in SAN FRANCISCO, go figure. Instinctively that sent me to the

Maybe they are nice people. Maybe its a self-feeding little clique of

Usenet posting twits have no concept of the fact that not all
readers (read users) can see all messages that got posted. Some
groups kill off (purge) messages daily.

Of course we know that if these retards don't know how to properly
take the time to make a post that has been properly manicured, they
need to be on the ignore list. No announcement... no criteria other
than outright denial of punctuation, grammar, proper quoting, and
other basic Usenet protocols. Boom, never seen or heard from again.
Then the idiot wonders why his remarks to not garner a reply.

I expect people to be a lot smarter than you are. I responded to Rick, who
referenced the EFF documents. The logic was clear....to someone with a
brain.

And you, of all people, have no credence in talking about punctuation,
grammer, etc. Unbelievable.

You need a black box usually called an "image stabiliser". My local
electronics store sell them for about $50cad, check the net for mail order

It goes between the DVD and VCR. Since your unit is an all-in-one, you
might have to copy to a standalone VCR.

Well seeing as the DMCA makes universal remote controls, garage door
openers and pretty much anything that allows equipment to be used for
anything it wasn't intended for (like remote control software for Palm
Pilots) illegal, this could get difficult.

Next they will be making "copy-proof" holographic DVD's that *cannot*
be played in any manufactured player if the hologram is missing. From
what I understand, the next upgrade to the DVD standard will also take
out the facility to play DVD-R and DVD-RW, only original burned disks.

Any such attempt will only serve to drive the sale of Chinese made
players through the roof,

Virtually *all* DVD players are Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese made.

as if they weren't killing american
manufacturers already.

What American manufacturers ? RCA, Magnavox? most of their stuff is made
in the far-east these days.

I bet it's very difficult to find a DVD player that is actually
made in the USA.

Of course the American consumer electronics industry was
wiped-out/taken-over years ago.

RCA is a brand of Thomson (French), Magnavox is a brand of Philips
(Dutch), plus a load of other *household* American brand-names have
disappeared, or are now foreign owned. It's just the same with well known
British brand-names.

I bet it's very difficult to find a DVD player that is actually made in

Macrovision is "copy encryption" (or copy protection, as I'd put it). It
doesn't matter what the copy protection scheme is; the DMCA applies equally
to all.

Damn! The twit got one right!

The DMCA is going down in flames. Court cases dealing with
the exact same issues (circumvention of copy protection and
encryption) have come up before, always with the same eventual
results:

http://www.eff.org/IP/DMCA/US_v_Elco...17_eff_pr.html

http://www.eff.org/IP/Video/DVDCCA_c...227_eff_pr.php

etc.

Also, last year two separate bills were introduced in Congress
to protect consumer fair use rights for digital content:

http://www.protectfairuse.org/consum..._plotline.html

In just five short years the guts of the DMCA have already
proven to be ill-conceived, ridiculously broad, and in the end,
unconstitutional.

DarkMatter, pay attention and learn something.

Not true.

If it's illegal to defeat the copy protection then it's illegal to

Right?

Nope. It's only illegal to circumvent the copy protection, not to make

the

Yes, it is a screwy situation. It just adds to the existing laws that

Come on over, whimpy ****tard. I'll gladly slay you tuesday for a
slamburger today! And laugh at both incidents while you rot.

Jesus Christ, you sound like a poor man's Ric Flair.

Crossed with Wimpy from Popeye fame. How apropos.

Gave us:

By copying a copy protected DVD you are defeating the copy protection
mechanism. If you weren't defeating it then you wouldn't be copying it.

But if you could copy it, then for sure it was not copy protected ;-)

Dingledorf. If one uses a method to allow the copying of a disc,
and it was encrypted, it was a copyrighted disc, and is illegal to
extract directly.

Don't you have somewhere else to troll?

That is so untrue.

Care to explain yourself? Just saying something doesn't make it true.

He doesn't need to. It is illegal to copy a DVD in the US, for any
reason whatsoever.

Who gives a ****?

Obviously immoral thieves don't.

***NEWSFLASH***
This newsgroup is NOT about morality or legal issues. It is about technical
issues around DVD's.
So stop offering legal advice, it is not required or even asked for.

Yes, laugh if you will, but if someone you trust decides they don't like
your attitude about your lack of self control, they may convince the FBI
of your terrorist activities, and you can deal with them instead of us.
Yes, laugh little pidgeon, laugh if you will.

I do laugh at that.. you obviously have no idea how the legal system
works... Even if they did, so what, who gives a **** if some 16 year old
copies some of his friends DVDs? They'd need proof and a warrant to even
enter the house, you can't get that on someones word alone. Maybe if you got
busted for some other crime they might possibly try to charge you with
something, but even that is doubtful.

A society who will close every possible backdoor for every possible
illegal action will be worse than everything Hitler or Stalin could
imagine.

Liberty is also the liberty to commit a crime (and to be punished
later)
