TrollFilter changes
A new version of the TrollFilter is now available. Those of you who have been
around for a while can probably figure out why. IMPORTANT: The method of retrieving the TrollFilter has changed. I've taken down the email autoresponder, and replaced it with a (hopefully) much more convenient method of obtaining the file. Simply visit this URL http://www.milmac.com/trollfilter.php to download the filter file directly through your browser. |

Then you won't EVER be ASKED to refrain from racist jokes, sexist jokes, dead baby jokes, Holocaust jokes, ethnic jokes, religious jokes, etc. Why not go the extra mile. Everybody wins! This forum becomes a more inclusive, less Xenophobic place. You guys have your clubhouse. What say ye?? |

While I can't use your filter, it's terrific that you're still maintaining it, Doug. On behalf of the wreck, I'll be presumptuous to say "thank you". You're welcome. Why are you unable to use it? On a Mac. And there's no Mac version of the nfilter program, is there? Too bad. |

Ruth says, "My son Irving is getting married. He tells me he is engaged to a wonderful girl, but... he thinks she may have a disease called herpes. Golda says, "Do you have any idea what this herpes is, and can he catch it?" Ruth replies, "No, but I am just so thrilled to hear about Irving's engagement - it's time he settled down. As far as the herpes goes...who knows?" "Well," says Golda, "I have a very good medical dictionary at home. I'll look it up and call you." So Golda goes home, looks it up, and calls Ruth. "Ruth, I found it. Not to worry. It says herpes is a disease of the gentiles." I thought you might like this one because it had Jews, Gentiles, and sexually transmitted disease in it. There are about 3000 more similar Jewish jokes he http://www.awordinyoureye.com/jokes1stset.html I picked the first site with a Jewish Joke Google. Isn't that "family-friendly" moderated woodworking group that the twit in the wheelchair started still out there? (Don't recall his name... Just as well) It was Frodo or Ferdie or Whacko or something like that. Somebody (Joat?) pinned the nickname Frito on him and it stuck. At the beginning of the rants I suspected the current character was indeed Frito trying again to take over the newsgroup. I looked him up on Google and he just appeared out of thin air last fall. All the chest beating, teenage angst and wasted bandwidth convinced me my suspicion was correct. I immediately activated my anti-troll protocol.. A quick twitting and a couple of topic filterings fixed this foolishness. The Wrec was back to interesting woodworking topics and discussions. I apparently missed some good jokes, but did get a chance to catch up on unread messages. Life is good. DNFTMFT. |

On a Mac. And there's no Mac version of the nfilter program, is there? Too bad. Not a big deal for me... My software and wetware filters work pretty well. My news reader, Thoth, supports regular expressions so it's pretty easy to get the results I want. Oh, -that- one. It's relatively trivial to translate the nFilter rules into expressions that Thoth understands. It's virtually cut-and-paste. Aside: that software is _really_ popular at at least one military airbase in Newfoundland. |
