This is just a myth. Fact is carpets do fine in such environments, as

obvious fact that you need to keep it clean just like any other floor.


Been there done that, and junked it. Its OK if its me or thee, but the
kids visiting leave it a sodden mess.

Tiles and laminate clean easily as does Vinyl. Heat teh bathroom
properly and you will luxuriate in warm tiles.




And in any case when you are buying a house, furniture is removed so
shouldn't affect the price, and carpets can be. Really can't see why one
has to fit what you think others *might* like just to get a sale.


The inability of many buyers to think. Why else?

This is one of the main reasons why I dislike it. You can't get decent

Actually Dave, you can do pretty well with lot of angles and niches too.

harder than ideal, but a bit of suckout in the mid range (pretty much
acxhved using 2-way speakers) suits it well.

Did you know that there are more bacteria in a well-trodden carpet
than outside in the street? I think carpets are disgustingly
unhygenic, especially if owners keep pets indoors. Yuk. We had dogs
when I was a lad and they would sometimes get itchy bums. Mum would
drag the spaniel outside, but only after it had succeeded in "wiping"
its bum across the carpet in a desperate attempt to relieve the
itching. Oh, I hear you say, why not wash the dogs' bottoms regularly?

We've gone for carpet in the bedrooms, landing and stairs. But no carpet
anywhere else. It's nice.

What beats me is that the laminate floor manufacturers have produced
just about every grain or style known to man, yet they still have no
carpet-patterned laminate. For those who like carpets, surely this
could be a half-way house? I mean, at first glance you'd never know my
floors weren't covered with offcuts from beech trees.
