Default OT- Taxpayer surprise, Union Pension Bailout

Feeling tapped out after stimulus, ObamaCare and everything else? Senator
Bob Casey has one more deal for you. If the Pennsylvania Democrat gets his
way, U.S. taxpayers will also pick up the astonishing tab for poorly managed
union pension plans.

Mr. Casey is gathering support for his curiously named "Create Jobs and Save
Benefits Act," a bailout for union-run retirement plans. Similar to House
legislation from North Dakota Democrat Earl Pomeroy and Ohio Republican
Patrick Tiberi, the bill would transfer tens of billions of dollars worth of
retiree liabilities to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, i.e., to
taxpayers.

Best Regards
Tom.

The rank-n-file paid into the plan, sometimes for their whole lives. I'd
approve the bail-out but...in return, those responsible for the funds'
failures gets taken out behind the barn and shot.

Leftists don't subscribe to any kind of accountability except to blame Bush.
At least we won't have to put up with them for the next 50 years after this
November and 11/2012.

Here is the entire article:

Feeling tapped out after stimulus, ObamaCare and everything else? Senator
Bob Casey has one more deal for you. If the Pennsylvania Democrat gets his
way, U.S. taxpayers will also pick up the astonishing tab for poorly managed
union pension plans.

Mr. Casey is gathering support for his curiously named "Create Jobs and Save
Benefits Act," a bailout for union-run retirement plans. Similar to House
legislation from North Dakota Democrat Earl Pomeroy and Ohio Republican
Patrick Tiberi, the bill would transfer tens of billions of dollars worth of
retiree liabilities to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, i.e., to
taxpayers.

At issue are multi-employer pension plans, in which companies across an
industry pay into a single pension pool. The plans are predominately run by
unions and for years have distinguished themselves by poor management. The
Labor Department in 2008 listed 230 multi-employer plans that were either
endangered (less than 80% funded), or critical (less than 65% funded), or
that had applied to government for funding relief. By 2009 that number had
soared to 640.

The financial crash is partly to blame, but even before 2006 only about 6%
of multi-employer plans were fully funded, compared to about 31% of
single-employer plans. The real problem is that multi-employer plans have
become a sort of pension Ponzi scheme.

Unions love multi-employer plans because they let workers keep their
retirement benefits even if they switch jobs to another participating
company. This encourages lifelong union membership. Unions are less
enthusiastic about paying the bills. The negotiating priority of union
leaders is to get hefty wage increases and benefits for current workers,
leaving the scraps to the pensions of retirees who no longer vote in union
elections.

When a company in an industry goes out of business, meanwhile, the remaining
firms are still on the hook for all costs of the multi-employer plan. This
explains why the trucking industry is backing Mr. Casey's bill, and why Mr.
Casey announced his legislation at a Pennsylvania facility of YRC Worldwide,
a Kansas trucking outfit. Someone has to pay for years of the industry
agreeing to Teamster demands.

Mr. Casey's bill would cordon off "orphaned" pensions-those for which an
employer has stopped contributing or withdrawn from a multi-employer
fund-and put them into a separate account. Surviving companies would pay
benefits to these orphans for five years, after which they'd get kicked to
the PBGC, which would shoulder the benefits until the last retiree or
beneficiary dies. The remaining multi-employer plan would be back in the
black, free to start the negative-feedback loop of underpayments and
overpromises again.

All of this is a raw deal for union pensioners who worked a lifetime in
expectation of certain benefits. The PBGC's current maximum payment to any
plan participant is $12,800 a year. Mr. Casey's bill raises that to $21,000
year, still only a fraction of existing pension promises.

Not that the PBGC has the cash to pay more. The agency's deficit was $21
billion as of last September, and it is expected to rise to an estimated $34
billion by 2019. Mr. Casey is claiming his multi-employer-bailout scheme
will cost a mere $8 billion, but Moody's estimated last year that
multi-employer plans were $165 billion underfunded.

The tab is likely to be much higher given the moral hazard Mr. Casey would
create. As Hudson Institute economist Diana Furchtgott-Roth notes, the bill
creates "a vicious circle. Once PGBC took over some plans, other employers
would want to declare bankruptcy, unload plans on the PGBC, and reorganize
under another name. The incentives to do this would be enormous."

In 2006 Congress passed the Pension Protection Act to prod companies and
unions to shape up their pension plans, whether by lowering benefits,
increasing contributions from employers and workers, or even raising
retirement ages. The fact that many unions and companies have refused to use
these tools does not make their mistake the obligation of U.S. taxpayers. If
unions really cared about protecting retirees, they'd ditch defined-benefit
plans and adopt 401(k) plans that give workers control over their retirement
assets.

Union chiefs prefer the power that comes with managing huge pension
investments-even if they're failing. They are now counting on Mr. Casey to
preserve their power by making taxpayers pick up the tab for years of
pension mismanagement. With the union priority of "card check" stalled, word
is that the Casey bailout is Big Labor's consolation prize. Taxpayers should
let Congress know they don't want to pay.

Best Regards

Tom.

Yes. the hookers. The uglier and the older they are, the more they
like it. It's well known how cheap politicians are when spending THEIR
money. They go for quantity, instead of quality. They aren't very
smart, either. Some, like Jerry Springer pay their hookers with
checks. Jerry did that when he was a politician in Cincinnati, and he
hired a well known prostitute. Of course, Ed is our resident expert on
old whores so I'm sure he'll chime in.

Again? I've already had one biploar nutcase on the west coast make
death threats, and two telephone stalkers. One was from SE Ohio and he
told me, "I have relatives that live a few miles from you. They are
violent, and belong in jail."

Don't blame me. Both of those characters took off on their own toots; one a
year ago, one a few months ago. And it's been one snide, insulting remark
from each of them ever since. "Love" is not exactly what I feel for either
of them.

The first stalker was ****ed because he emailed me with an 'offer' of
computer parts. I wasn't at the computer that morning, and when I
didn't respond in 15 minutes he called my church and threatened the

figure out what was going on. That was when I found him bragging on
another newsgroup about the call and complaining about me not replying
to the email. I found it, then looked at the photos he had linked to.
It was all 286 junk, and would have been useless anyway. At that time

Apparently his bail was $12k, but after a hearing they raised it to
$100k. I'm thinking they suspect him of being responsible for multiple
previous incidents, and that they're probably trying to ascertain if
he was using that handsaw to construct traps.

BTW, the news article mentioned posts in the 90s. But in fact he's
written thousands right up until he got pinched. The authorities are
going to have a field day with those posts, which in retrospect were
quite the red flag. They'll also be a gold mine for the victims should
they decide to sue him.

I use my regular email address. Of course Im not as spectacular a target
as an entire factory. And I have a number of dogs running the property.

So its obvious that Leftards have no balls, to match their lack of
brains.

Of course..it could be that they dont want to attack a homestead where
the owner is heavily armed and will protect his dogs by taking the life
of Leftwing pond scum, without the blink of an eye. And then go make a
burger or two and eat, while he waits for the coroner to arrive.

Me on the other hand..am just a lovable harmless fuzzball with a handful

If you received a telephone bomb threat at your plant and you called in the
police, they would have instructed you how to initiate a trace if you got
another one, and insisted that you do so. Also, the call can be traced after
the fact from phone company records. And after taking it seriously enough to
send in dogs, they would have.

In other words, either one of you, or both, is full of it. What a surprise!

So, how many leftists here were attacked by conservatives? How come cars
with conservative bumperstickers are keyed and those with leftist ones
aren't? My body shop guy says it's always a conservative sticker that gets
it. Why is it that the leftists have no values or morals? Why does the end
always justify the means for them? Why are they so filled with and so
motivated by hate? Just NEVER disagree with them! ...they don't like that

The church filed a report with the Sheriff's office. I had already
deleted his emailed death threats, but the idiot bragging about calling
the church is in the Google Archives. I wasn't afraid of someone on
the west coast that had to collect empty pop cans to buy junk on Ebay.
His family lived in another state, and apparently they had cut all ties
with him.

The character was a real nut job. He refused to take his medicine,
claiming that there was no such thing as bipolar disorder. He claimed
it was a conspiracy between the state of Oregon and the drug companies
to defraud the federal government out of money for a placebo. He was on
welfare, had been banned from a walmart, a Red Robin restaurant. he
moved every couple months after being thrown out of one place after
another. His name was in the local police blotter quite often,
including an arrest for trying to run down someone in the parking lot of
their apartment. That incident cost him his car, but he 'explained it'
by bragging how much he was saving by not driving anymore.

His continued threats to people on multiple newsgroups cost him one
ISP account after another, till he threatened the church. He
disappeared after that.

I had a collection of all his rambling and ranting messages to that
newsgroup on a website for a while, till we were sure he wasn't likely
to come back. That way if he did show up, we could discreetly point to
that web page for newbies to see what they were dealing with. I made
sure it wasn't indexed by Google, and since it was hosted on a free ISP
web space the big search engines weren't looking for it in web crawls.

I'm sure the police were monitoring phone numbers for a while after
the first incident. Modern telephone central offices can report a
calling number before your phone even rings. All they need is a court
order, and the information is dumped on your desk. They can also log all
calls so the police can review them, if needed. More than likely, the
caller was half way across the country.

A homeless man was making bomb threats recently. He is sitting in
jail, waiting for his trial.

http://www.myfoxorlando.com/dpp/news/police_blotter/052210_Bomb_Threat_Locks_Down_3_Hospitals
was one of them.

A business owner on another newsgroup was called by the police early
one morning. Someone had dumped gasoline along the front of his
electronics business and tried to set the building on fire. The world
is full of sick *******s, because the 'bleating' heart morons are
against the death penalty.

That's the way leftists roll!

The fact that they are mostly fat & lazy makes it about the only way
they can move! ;-)

I'm not far enough to the fringe.

I'd truly LOVE to see some idiot wander into my neighborhood and not be
recognized by the neighbors!

During the 2000 presidential election, I caught a kid keying the Bush
sticker on the rear bumper of my truck, and then starting to key the
paint along the passenger door.

He ran to his (piece of ****) Honda car, at which point..I blocked his
vehicle so he couldnt get out. He screamed in panic and hate as I
approached..and then pulled out one of my pocket knives, showed it to
him..then proceeded to cut all of his valve stems..flattening his tires.

I could have..cut his sidewalls. I carry a stout knife. But figured the
lesson would stick by simply cutting off his valve stems. At no time did
he leave his (locked) vehicle..but hollared threats of all manner as I
worked my way around his car.

Before I left..I walked up to the drivers window..smiled at him..and
told him he was lucky I hadnt simply shot him and set the scene for a
"legitimate self defense shooting of a crazy kid".

I then drove off, leaving him sitting on 4 flat tires in the parking
lot. That election cycle, I had to replace that Bush sticker 4 times.

However...the best instance..was the day after Bush won..

I was traveling south on I5 headed to a customers place..and traffic was
stop and go. Another Honda, pulled up beside me..and the little ****tard
started screaming about Bush this and Bush that...really going nutzo and
totally out of his (pointed head) skull.

At which point..traffic started speeding up and I lifted a towel off the
floorboards, and looking out the window..started making crying faces at
him, wiping my eyes, and laughing at him. This enflamed the asshole even
more and he went totally bonkers, flipping the bird, screaming out the
passenger window, sticking his HEAD out the passenger window..all the
while I was making fun of him. The reason for this of course..was to
get him so wound up..that when the traffic suddenly came to a stop
again....G he was too wound up to realize that the car he was about
to crash into, was a good sized 4x4 high riding pickup with a really
protruding trailer hitch.

CRASH!!!!

That asshat smashed his car into that trailer hitch..and buried it all
the way into his grill. Taking out the grill the hood and spraying a
large cloud of steam out the now destroyed radiator.

The truck owner stopped..and got out..and was a really...really...really
big ol redneck.

As traffic started up again..I gave the kid the big big ****eating
grin..the bird..and drove away on to my service call.

The guy in the pickup...really didnt look really happy..and the
kid...eyes wide, mouth open in shock..watched me as I drove away.

Marvelous..simply ****ing marvelous...sigh..one of the best moments of
my life..to be remembered till I die a century from now.

Crom..but I love it when something like that comes together..and the
Leftwinger eats ****.

VBG

didn't respond in 15 minutes he called my church and threatened the
secretary. The church called me in a panic, and it took mme a while to
figure out what was going on. That was when I found him bragging on
another newsgroup about the call and complaining about me not replying
to the email. I found it, then looked at the photos he had linked to.
It was all 286 junk, and would have been useless anyway. At that time
the cutoff on usable computers was Windows ME, and it was clearly stated
any time I told anyone about the project. Ed is your typical two bit,
school yard bully. I killfiled him a while back. He can dish out tons
of crap, but can't take it like a man. Hopefully the mother ship will
finally arrive and take him home.

I used to post my name and e-mail address...I got over ten thousand e-mails
after disagreeing with a leftist and I got a bomb threat at the factory the
same day. I had to send everybody home with pay while the bomb squad combed
the plant for hours with dogs. I got a bomb threat again the next day and
my secretary just told him to **** off and hung up. That's the way leftists
roll!

So which state office is he now running as a Democrat?

Probably some low level office in New Jersey, if he's marinated in
the drugs long enough. Maybe dog catcher. That way he could save his
food stamps.

What exciting lives these guys claim to lead! Meanwhile, here in the
land of uber-conservative AZ, most of the excitement from the rednecks
I know is rooted in alcohol, guns, and other conservatives! My
favorite is the woman who shot her boyfriend with his own gun after
the two of them finished a drinking binge. The wound shouldn't have
been fatal, but since both were too blotto to call 911, he bled out.
But hey, at least they scared off all the leftists who'd otherwise
have been making bomb threats against them! guffaw

VBG

Gunner

Those events don't surprise me in the least. I can see any one of our
little leftists here pulling the same crap. Like I said, they have no
morals other than their Obamatron agenda.

Three years ago I bought a Ford van at auction from the Navy. It had a "Go
Navy" bumper sticker on the rear. The first thing I did was remove it as
not to offend the leftists. My thought is to apply conservative bumper
stickers to obvious leftists' cars as decoys. Maybe they'll turn on each
other.

"Good" is a flexible term in his case. The stories are getting more
fantastic, yet more contradictory at the same time.

Tawwwwwwm is getting basic plotlines down, but he has a way to go.

I haven't been keeping track, but his claim to have received 10,000
emails certainly sounds gummerish. Ask him to tell the story again in
a month and he'll probably say it was 8 million emails. And let's not
forget the one about multiple juicy offers to sell his business, which
he apparently nonetheless keeps so that he has something to blame
Obama for ruining. Now *that* was a plot worthy of a SciFi original
movie starring Stephen Baldwin.

Meanwhile, here in the
land of uber-conservative AZ, most of the excitement from the rednecks
I know is rooted in alcohol, guns, and other conservatives!

Looks like our dream is to become West Alabama. Hopefully that story

I wonder if his name is on the list of "great cull" participants,
along with foreman's. And I have a few other questions - Where is
this list? Who's in charge of it? Why does a supposedly spontaneous
revolution even need a list? How many names are on it, and who are
they? Why do some retired folk believe that having 20k bodies per day
hanging from lamp posts will somehow be better than collecting a
pension check, and having Medicare and enough spare time to blab about
their anarchy plans? Apparently the answer to the last one is that for
them, *nothing* can be worse than being afraid of leftist boogeymen.

Tawwwwwwm changed his nym from his real name to Buerste on October 8th,
2008. At that time he announced that he'd ****ed somebody off, apparently on
one of the other newsgroups he frequented at the time, and had gotten 10,000
e-mails. There was no mention of bomb threats, or dogs, or police, and the
several messages he wrote about it gave no hint of those things. It appears
that the "bomb threats" are a recent embellishment -- and that he didn't
fully think his story through before making the additions. Draw your own
conclusions.

They need a new hobby. They're making a mess out of writing mass-murder
scripts for fun. But it does give a view into the putrefying mass that lies
between their ears.

It takes time to get the mass media to pronounce someone's name
right. After all, these are the people who dropped out of clown college
because of poor memory and the inability to sound out words.
