If they're paying those prices, offer to be a rep for these guys:
http://www.funwaysmarketing.com/PRODUCTS/products.htm

If they need only manual pumps, tell them OK, and contact me - I
work at a professional fab shop, and we can make anything! :-)

(and we can make a jerkoff pump for considerably less than $1300
"a pop"!)

Good Luck!

Sounds much more fun than the turboencabulator.

Now, if you could just combine the specifications of the two, you would have

Yeah, I have been getting these requests for a while, now. The usual is
they want to buy something from me, but then ask for a link to my
store so they can select the items. Obviously, if they have NO IDEA
what I actually sell, how could they possibly know they one to buy some
of it?

I don't know what the real deal is. I was guessing they just want to
get ANY response, as that indicates they have a valid email address.
But, you got an actual response back, although it might be a
computer-generated one, if their program is that smart. So, what is the
deal?
They want to pay you with a stolen credit card #, and have you ship
"something" to them via their preferred carrier?

Presumably the shipper shows up REAL QUICK to pick up, before the credit
card is verified, and you are supposed to be flustered and let them have it.

Very simple. They buy stuff with stolen credit cards, and pay extra
for shipping and ask you to wire the shipping fee to their "shipper"
(actually themselves). This is all what they want, they do not care to
get any turboejaculator hand pumps. They just want to get shipping fees
sent to them.

The one guy whose location I could ascertain was from Lagos.

Ah ha! So, that's how the scam works. I was wondering, but didn't
bother to
investigate, I just dump the spam. I have gotten a number of these
weird requests
in the last couple weeks, asking me to send them a link to my store so
they could
order something, or asking me to provide all sorts of odd gear, Fluke
meters or
commerial industrial test gear of that sort, which I don't sell. They
may have gotten
my company out of some kind of list that indicates I sell electrical
gear. I had
to register as a government contractor to get paid for some units I'm
making, and
I think that got me on a LOT of lists I'd rather not be on.

No surprise!

sell. :-)

I had one that wanted to buy 30,000 1/100A 3AG fuses, but didn't know
my company's name. That's understandable, since it was closed over 15
years ago.

Definitely. They used to bug the crap out of me when I owned an

the more tribute you pay, the more they praise your company. I told
them to shove it, and hung up every time they called.

This was 25 to 30 years ago and polite never worked with their
telemarketers. You either signed up an paid or told them off. They
would stay on the phone for over an hour if you would let them. I
rarely had time to talk to them, and only one phone line. I lost
business because they wouldn't shut up. A couple times I told them I
was busy and waiting for a call and hung up. They would call right back
and keep using their high pressure crap to try to get their commission.

You should pump them. I saw some guy on some TeeVee show who, when he got
a call, would note the time, and say, "I need your name, your supervisor's
name, and the name and address of the company where you're working because
my fee for the use of my personal equipment to do your business is
$1,000.00 per hour."

Cheers!

business because they wouldn't shut up. A couple times I told them I
was busy and waiting for a call and hung up. They would call right back
and keep using their high pressure crap to try to get their commission.

Just curious, what high pressure tactics? You have the money they have
no leverage?

Don't tell me you've never run into a money hungry high pressure
salesman who will tell you anything to make a sale. They were as bad as
the Wall Street Journal.

So, tell, me; are you one of those old lonely people who when a
telemarketer calls, are so desperate to hear the sound of a human
voice that you'll chat up the telemarketer because it's better than
sitting at home, all alone, waiting for Godot?

Those people are anathema to telemarketers - they know you're not
going to buy ****, but you're so desperately lonely for company that
you'll engage the telemarketer in some conversation, while he looks
at the clock, too polite to just hang up on you, but already knowing
that he ain't gonna make **** for the ten minutes of his calling time
you've just wasted simply by being so pathetic?

Those people are the reason I quit telemarketing, plus the fact that
I never sold ****.

Thanks,
Rich

And "Thanks, not interestedclick" wasn't good enough?

Thanks

But, can you identify specifically any particular strategy or ruse that
they used to induce you to do actions that you knew better than to do?

Why was, "Thanks, not interestedclick" not good enough?

Thanks,

They just wouldn't take the hint. They were convinced you couldn't
be in business a week without them. I had more credit than I wanted
from my various suppliers. I paid all my bills early, (Which saved me
1.5% on every bill) and I had more work than I could handle at times. I
didn't even have a listed phone number, and I wasn't in the Yellow
pages. All my work came from referrals. One school system sent the
head of their maintenance department to the area I lived to look for my
truck to ask me to put in a bid for the sound system for their stadium.
I won the bid and ended up with all the electronics work for that school
system. Things were great, till I got sick and couldn't climb ladders
or carry 150 pound TVs up two flights of stairs by myself.
