Default And now we have foreign exchange apprentices.

Bugger me sideways with a baguette.

What daft **** sends a non english speaking apprentice over to the UK for a
couple of weeks foreign exchange experience? It said that he spoke fluent
English on the paperwork.

And it's a long time since I saw someone light a cig up in a customers
house.

Or French? But I'd expect at least a smattering of English from
anyone of apprentice age.

It is a French thing - they suddenly don't speak English if they don't
like you :-)

Someone who doesn't like him and also doesn't like the English?
Sophisticated win/win, I think.

When I was setting up a cebit stand I found it easy to communicate with
a German electrician by drawing pictures. The pictures tend to be
similar in most languages.

IKEA rely on that fact for their assembly instructions.

It's working.

I was in charge of him again to today. So I thought "**** it" and gave him
my Knipex snips and left him to wire up a couple of sockets. All done with
out speaking to each other and done really well. The only other person in
the room was from Newcastle and neither of us understood what he said.
