'Canteen rule": Can you expand? I work as a volunteer on a Habitat
for Humanity site several days a week and [almost] always wash my
hands before eating. I'll confess that the notion of rat pee and
the like being on 'clean' surfaces had never occurred to me.


Some building sites have a canteen and that is the only place you allowed to
eat or drink on the site. It also stops uneaten food gettng left around the
site so keeps down the rat numbers.
