Does anyone here have a lava lamp?
I have one ( Mathmos) and the cap to bottle and the base to bottle appear to have been glued together at some point but the "glue" has now hardened and failed so it's a bit unstable . You need to be able to gain access to the bulb to change it so it can't be glued permanently and I was wondering if anyone has encountered this sort of problem . Stuart |

Daughter is 12 and I detest thinks in "vulnerable" locations. They *will* get knocked over (to prove the point) if they remain in such a place after they have been asked to be moved. As for hot. The "don't touch, hot" lesson was learnt the hard way, and in IMHO the only way, on things that hurt but don't actually produce a burn at a very young age. -- Cheers Dave. |

I just use it occasionally anyway and never when I go out .Apprently according to a Forum I visited you shouldn't have them on for more than about 5 hours unless you are using a dimmer. |

Instant gasket or similar, silicone will take fairly extreme temperatures. Adam |

Bramble-stick No.It needs heat to work and it takes a golfball lamp Problem when all incandescent bulbs are banned in a few years .. Simon. Saw something on teletext about that very topic today . Organisations representing the poorly sighted saying that these replacement bulbs do not emit enough light for such people and the Gov't has admitted there is a problem there but that alternatives are available http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7848859.stm Part Quote "Sight fears over low-energy bulbs Traditional light bulbs are being phased out in favour of energy-efficient ones Charities and eyesight specialists are calling on the government to halt its plans to phase out the sale of traditional light bulbs. Campaigners want retailers to disregard a promise to phase out the incandescent bulbs by 2012. They say replacement lower energy bulbs do not provide enough light, causing problems for people with poor vision. The government admitted there was a problem but said that alternatives were still available" |

Stuart I've got one, but it never did have any glue. The three parts: base, bottle, cap, just sit on to of each other. -- JJ Seems like mine has had local adaptations . Clearly an object that needs some thought as to where it should be placed. |
