Default lava lamp run time?

I just bought a lava lamp. Can I run it 24/7?

Do lava lamps have a shelf life?

The one I bought is...

Lava lamps work by heating up parafin (wax), which is lighter than the liquid
when warmed up. The 'lava' drops to the base where the warming lamp is when it
cools off. Repeat cycle.

Eventually the liquid warms up to the same temp as the liquid parafin and the
cycle stops.

Is it a REAL (Haggarty Enterprises) Lava lamp?

If so, the recommeded run time is 10 hours at a stretch:

Never operate your motion lamp for more than 10 hours at a time. This
will insure proper operation and a long globe life.

You beat me to it. Also included in the instructions that came with the
lamp. I have mine on a timer.

After having several lava lamps -- both "real" and copies, I've concluded
that they work better if they are not run continuously.

Coninuous operation results in the liquid disappearing more quickly and the
lava blobs getting smaller and smaller.

Shaking the hot liquid is a definite no-no as the lava disintegrates never
to reform properly.
