We had to make chips the entire 2 years! We'll probably have to make chips
until the next election. Most of our latest parts are AL and mild steel
with a few O-1 doo-dads. Full speed ahead! The most interesting thing is
we need to use more and more metric specs, parts and fasteners. That's OK
but metric is not intuitive for the guys like inch stuff.

Randy, if you're referring to your question asking for B&S or Allen Bradley
experts, first, you've got a ******* there, and second, you need an AB
expert more than a B&S expert -- and PLCs that have been around for a while
are not something that many recreational machinists are going to know about.

Rockwell is pretty good, in my experience, about answering tech questions,
and the PLC 500 is as common as dirt, so they should be able to help you. As
for the B&S, what's the vintage? Many of those made in the '70s and into the
'80s were actually manufactured by Wasino, under contract. We had a grinding
guy at Wasino when I was there, who knew them pretty well, but he's long
gone. His name is Bob Hamada, and he's still probably in the grinder
business somewhere. He went to Mitsui in Chicago about six years ago, but
I've lost track of him since then.

If it's a newer machine, I can't help. But I'd be surprised if you find a
hobby machinist who's going to be up on that combination, unless you just
happen to run into one with professional experience who worked with AB PLCs.

That's just what I am running. it zapped over 3/4 of the
articles today. (Granted, some of the blocking is based in IP addresses
in the "NNTP-Posting-Host: " header zapping Chinese and Indian spam.
(Are the Chinese still flogging footwear? :-)

Well ... I typically only see the first of each political
subject, after which the killfile does its thing for me. To keep the
killfile from getting too large, I typically have them set to expire
after 30-60 days. (Easy to do with slrn at least.)

Ya' got me. I didn't do very much with the grinders. I worked mostly with
the lathes.

I think the Micromasters were the ones made by Wasino.

I see that Bob Hamada's name is mentioned in an article written in 2006,
when he was Sales Manager for Mitsui Hi-Tech, Elk Grove Village, IL. Maybe
he's still there. If you want a lead on info for that grinder, give him a
call and see if he can help you. Tell him I suggested that you call.
