got to be an injector pump. Since its for a pool, must be a chlorine
injector.

I used to inject fertilizer in my irrigation, would have been handy for
that.

Maybe a blood pump for old timey dialysis, where they
tapped your veins, pumped the blood thru a filter then
back into the vein.

Looking at the vid I would suspect that what is shown is not the pump
itself, rather connects to the pumps. That's just the impression I got
from what i could see. It looked as if the end of the rods in the
mechanical part attached to something else. Of course, I could be wrong.

Iggy,

Could you please also post a link to a plain still photo along
with these? My system (with Opera) does not handle the youtube format
(again), so I have no idea what you are asking about.

What is the benefit of a video -- other than that you can do it?

Thanks,

I just did a website for a guy who propagates corals, and he has a
pump similar to that one. It pumps small amounts of calcium into the
water for him as he makes sal****er. Very old dialysis machines are
similar in style. This one may be to add specific amounts of chlorine
and acid to a very large pool. /SWAG

And, to put us back on the normal political track, check this out:
http://tinyurl.com/2msxoa It shows a video which asks Americans
"When will you have had enough?" The end lists all the rights which
are being usurped by our government at the moment. Powerful.

Where is the beheadings, family exterminations, IUDs and such? Doesn't look
the US is really trying. I sure know we can do better if we want to drop to
the enemies level.

I don't think some anyone has a Constitutional right to disrupt a political
meeting where whatever political party is paying for the use of the venue.
You can not buy a ticket to a movie and expect to stay there if you start
ranting at the top of your lungs about whatever issues you have passions
about.

As far as those picked up on the battlefield, Gitmo beats the nine cent
solution other countries have practiced.

Now answer me this. Who was in charge when the DEA came up with a profile
of a drug runner where scrupiously obeying traffic rules became a reason to
stop someone?

What party was in charge that passed into law the Gun Control act of 1968?

Explain to me why I have to have a carry permit to excercise my Second
Amendment rights?

Why is it that some potential libertarian, just a few months from being born
can be snuffed out because mommy doesn't want it? Which party for the most
part supports the cold blooded murder of the least defenseless amoungst us?

As a closing, who signed off on Project Echelon?

Wes

PS

I worked on my lathe today. Pulled the driven side assemble since I learned
that I have to use all 100 G of moglice semi when I open it. Might as well
coat both and turn them down. 74.62 delivered for that stuff.

Wes, I would be hugely interested in a cite for this, for practical
reasons. Are you saying that if I am driving carefully, a little below
speed limit, that I somehow appear suspicious?

When I drive, say, with guns or something else that makes me not want

That would be "most defenseless", but any libertarian would support

Yup, looks like the pumps go on the left side at the end, where
those plungers come out.

They probably make the missing pump sections out of various
engineering plastics, so the chlorines and acids don't eat them up
quite as fast, and they are cheaper to scrap and replace periodically.

Must be meant for an 'Olympic Size' commercial or public pool for
that much volume, or a small lake where they're trying to kill off the
worst of what grows naturally.

Most of the chlorine injection pumps I run into on condo pools
('backyard size' or slightly larger) are variable speed peristaltic
pumps with a chunk of tubing doing the heavy lifting. Easy to open
the lid and change out a foot of Tygon tubing and a couple of check
valves.

I drive "legal" on I94, both metro and outstate. Maybe green '97

Recieved my 4 1/2 MT to 5C adaptor to fit my Clausing 6903 today. I was a
bit worried since 4 1/2 MT varies between South Bend and Clausing. Sure
seemed to fit mine nice. Now I need to make a draw tube and a spindle nose
protector / adaptor extractor.

UPS didn't drop off the Moglice semi for repairing one side of my sheaves in
the varidrive. Maybe tomorrow.

"Amongst us?" You mean, like the woman whose fetus it is?

I can answer that with another question: Whose property are you? Whose
property are your organs?

The only way to "protect" a fetus that's still inside its creator's body
is to strip its creator of HER right to life, liberty, and property.

Spa pump ?

Not large enough - flow that is for a pool - but a spa maybe. Likely not
the turbo jet pump - but the general pump/flush pump.

I'm afraid that I don't know. Perhaps those who can view the
video will have a better idea.

Does it suck at some of the ports and blow at others? If so, it
may be complete other than whatever manifolding which fed it and
accepted the output.

Good Luck,

Good Luck,

Hi Don,

Take a look at this google search:

FFplay can display flv files okay and FFmpeg can convert
them to almost anything else. They are command line
programs. If you can figure out how to make it work on your
Solaris you should be all set (at least I think that is what
you are running...).

Then to get Iggy's file use the following link and save it
locally:

http://cache.googlevideo.com/get_vid...id=DdTMr4zINa0

This has been working okay for me. I don't know for how long
though. Just take the youtube ID number and add it to the
end as the video ID from google.

I use FFplay & FFmpeg binaries on my WinNT4 machine to
display these myself.

Thanks! Two cam-operated pumps with clear housings, so I can
see why you would think video is preferred -- at least for those who can
play it.

So, do you think that it is a complete unit, or a part?

I'm afraid that I don't know. Perhaps those who can view the
video will have a better idea.

Does it suck at some of the ports and blow at others? If so, it
may be complete other than whatever manifolding which fed it and
accepted the output.

Good Luck,

Don't know if it will compile, but it is a huge beast (IMO)
for the windows port. Besides it uses the FFmpeg libraries
to do its tricks anyway. See:

http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/projects.html

There is a link on the aforementioned page to Mplayer too if
Don wants to pursue/look into it.

If you hit the windows binaries (FFmpeg,FFplay) with UPX
(exe compressor) they are only about 2.7mb each and
play/show anything I ask of them. Not too bad considering
how bloated many programs are nowadays...

Interesting, here is the title from the first hit from that
search:

================================================== ====================
[FFmpeg-devel] Build failed on Solaris 10
================================================== ====================

And -- Solaris 10 is just what I am using. Well ... I'll check the link
and see what compiler he was using. I've got the choice between gcc
(several versions) and the cc in the "Studio 12" suite from Sun.

It looks as though I already have them in my OpenBSD systems, so
I may not have to compile them at all. :-)

Hmm ... I got the file from below and transferred it to an
OpenBSD system, and tried it with the following results:

================================================== ====================
Popocat:csu 16:32:37 # ffplay video.ffv
[flv @ 0x448b0170]skipping flv packet: type 18, size 306, flags 0
Illegal instruction (core dumped)
================================================== ====================

along with perhaps thirty seconds of a window with a solid black
background showing before the dump.

And I can only find a CVS repository of the sources, not a
single downloadable tarfile.

It ain't worth the trouble.

Thanks,
DoN.

I've hit problems before -- too many libraries needed which I
don't have.

And it *is* compiled on OpenBSD, and I get the following:

================================================== ====================
Popocat:csu 16:33:38 # mplayer video.ffv
MPlayer 1.0pre7-3.3.5 (C) 2000-2005 MPlayer Team
CPU: Sun Sparc

Playing video.ffv.
TiVo file format detected.
MPEG: No audio stream found - no sound.
MPEG: FATAL: EOF while searching for sequence header.
Video: Cannot read properties.
No stream found.

Exiting... (End of file)
================================================== ====================

Again -- it ain't worth the trouble.

Thanks,
DoN.

Definitely an injector pump. The ones we have for the high school
pool make an awful clanging sound that makes me think there's a
blacksmith in the boiler room every time I walk by. For comparison, I
believe the main circulation pump is 20+ HP and the main suction and
discharge lines are 8-12"

Well it was worth a try Don. I'm in way over my head trying
to help anyone with Solaris, Linux, BSD... I can figure out
ways to keep running my old NT4 stuff though

The FFmpeg libraries are in a constant state of flux so
maybe it will go someday.

If I were you I would keep plugging away at it when I got
the urge/chance. The programs are a little quirky on
Windows, but for the most part they work. They are really
being developed for the Unix flavored systems and the
Windows ports are just an offshoot the best I can tell.

I probably will -- but I am currently working on migrating
server functions from a SS-5 (with lots of disk, and running Solaris
2.6), to a Sun Fire 280R (also with lots of disk, but running Solaris 10
U3, and using zfs-based RAID instead of individual drives).

Later, I may have more time to pound away on it. The real pain
with most of these things is how many other libs I have to bring in and
compile -- and sometimes what programs are broken by a newer version of
some of the libs. *Why* can't they remain backward-compatible the way
they used to?

The programs are a little quirky on
Windows, but for the most part they work. They are really
being developed for the Unix flavored systems and the

O.K. I don't want to run them on Windows anyway.

Thanks,
DoN.
