I'm in trouble!

Just listening to Glenn Beck, says that the
Soviet province of Crimea has been in power
cut for a couple days, no known reason why.

The planet is not getting any better.

Listening to it carefully the NYC radio said:

Ice is on the roadways of upper New York state.

Sorry if I alarmed you.

No known reason? Someone blew up a few of the transmission lines from
Ukraine.

1) hard to see

3) Can be lethal or cause folks to behead or

And, your point was? Sounds close enough

We walked in lockstep to the tower, took our
unregistered guns and explosives, and responded
sheepishly to Limbaugh's orders, chanting
"Ditto!" repeatedly, and did what the Great
One commanded. After that, we drank adult
beverages, and planned ways to kill off all the
femenazis from the planet. Gally, whiz, it is
so fun to poke liberals.

Its a pun.

Also my aged hearing.

Wife told me once what sounded like she was worried about black guys on
her drive to the city. She was actually saying black ice.

Oh, that's a funny one. Hate those black
guys on the road.

We also have a leafy green area, some drive
east of me, folks talk about Lawn Guyland.
That, and New Yak Sitty, where the animals
are all sitting down.

I can identify! My hearing loss means that I can't hear the beginnings
and endings of many words. I may be able to hear a portion of the word
and then unconsciously read the persons lips and fill in the blanks and
understand most of what is being said, but there's been times I quoted
back to someone what I thought they said and it was so far from what
they actually said that we both just had to have a good laugh over it.

Getting older you can use it to your advantage, telling folks that your
hearing, memory and vision aren't what they used to be and they will
have to repeat something or help you.

The same mistakes can happen when you are much younger but then you have
no good excuse.

My hearing loss happened when I was a teenager, but I didn't know I'd
lost any hearing at all. I thought what I was hearing was normal, so
all the years following the loss (the dr. told me) my brain compensated
for the loss by filling in the blanks of words in sentences because I
could still hear parts of the words and just "remembered" what they
sounded like. So, fast forward to about 5 years ago when I had a
routine hearing test, my Dr. told me that there are people who have
selective hearing loss, people who just have minor issues with their
hearing, and then there's ME. I was told I had profound to severe
hearing loss and needed hearing aids in both ears.

When I don't wear them the world is relatively quiet. I can hear sounds
and peoples voices, but if the people aren't looking at me or in another
room I can't really understand what they are saying. When I do wear the
hearing aids they turn up all sound, and the sound ranges I've lost are
turned up even higher, so that I can hear everything, but everything is
loud, including all ambient background noise. It just so happens that a
majority of men's voices, and some women's voice fall within the same
tone range as background noise. That means I actually have to be able
to read those people lips and combine what I think is the sound from
their spoken words and pick those sounds out from amongst all the
background noise. It's an adventure for sure!

You said "WHAT? The cat in the pot couldn't be cooked well-done???"

Many years ago I developed "selective hearing". When women are
talking, they think they are communicating :-)

Well I do listen the first time. And I give an answer the first time.
Keep flappin' those lips and I get tone deaf - selective hearing.

Hey, you even kiss strange women in the hospital recovery to make them
feel better, so you're not so tough!

Hen party is my nickname for a gaggle of women that walk in the park.

They sometimes pass me and I have to cover my left ear.

Many years ago I developed "selective hearing". When women are
talking, they think they are communicating :-)

Flip that coin over and you get "If men would just listen the first
time, we wouldn't have to repeat ourselves." hahaha!

Well I do listen the first time. And I give an answer the first time.
Keep flappin' those lips and I get tone deaf - selective hearing.

Ever witness a group of women, everybody is talking and nobody is
listening. Like a cackle of hens.

Hen party is my nickname for a gaggle of women that walk in the park.

They sometimes pass me and I have to cover my left ear.

My bride belongs to a group that gathers once a month for Bunco sp.
Each March they come to our house. I call them the Man Hater's Club.

I have to go into my cave and bar the door.

My neighbor calls it "Male pattern deafness.".

Glad to know I'm not alone. No matter what you call it.

I take business calls from a company. The woman (who
has been sending me calls) phones, and I can make out
about 1/4 of what she says. I read back to her what
I thought she said, and ask her fill in the rest.

One call last week, I had a question. I carfully
typed an email, and sent it off. About thirty
seconds later, the phone rings. I answer. Can't
hardly tell what she is saying. Some thing about
a phone call being more personal. Yah, and also
maddeningly frustrating when I have to try five
times to (audio) hear what I could (visual) read
on the screen. And I think and process information
visually. So, I end up writing down what she said,
and then reading it for my brain to comprehend
what it took five tries for her to say.

Look, silly. I sent you an email. That means I want
the reply by email, got it now?

That reminds me of the old "Telephone Game" we played as kids.

"Sound" familiar? Pun intended ;-)

We did that. I would really love to remember what the
start was. The end was Jeannete (birthday girl) has
ketchup in her ears.

When I'm in the kitchen reading the news paper,
Mom will walk into the room, and there is some
kind of sound. I have to mentally replay what
I just heard, my brain was 99% reading the paper
and 1% listening. I usually ask Mom to interrupt,
wait several seconds, and make sure I'm looking
directly at her before she speakes. She never once
has.

With my hearing loss any group of people talking can sound like a cackle
of hens.

When I was about fifteen, a bunch of kids were in
the car and Mom's driving. I tried several times
to interrupt, can't remember what was the message.
Finally, in a conversational voice I said "free
beer." Instantly there was dead silence, and I
made my announcement. They all wanted to know what
the hell happened back there.

I sometimes have to deal with a company whose middle name is diversity.
I try to keep it to email exchanges which works very well but some of
the tech people, who apparently are taking an English as a Third
Language course in their spare time, really like phone calls.

They're sharp and they sure as hell speak whatever their native language
is far better than I, but it's painful.

I've been around many people from other countries, and one church we
went to for a while, all the people were from Nigeria. Some spoke
fairly clear English, but most of them had thick accents which were VERY
hard for me to understand.

That's got to be frustrating to both of you.
It took all my powers of gentle and mild and
kind to make it through that phone call without
blasting the clueless phone girl. Likely as
frustrating for you, too.

Some people don't make much sense on email,
also. When I got the girl's email, I had to
read it through several times and guess what
she really meant.

Almost made me wish I could git yur gun.
