That reminds me of the old "Telephone Game" we played as kids.

"Sound" familiar? Pun intended ;-)

We did that. I would really love to remember what the
start was. The end was Jeannete (birthday girl) has
ketchup in her ears.

Jeannette is getting on in years.

Jeanette is caught up in her fears.

Jeanette's so fat she has two rears.

Per rbowman:

Sometimes I wonder what happened to American creativity when so many
movies and TV series are either remakes of US or European films.

Did you see the Swedish version of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo ?

I saw the Swedish version first, then read the book in English, and then
watched the American version in English.

The American version was ok.... but only "Ok"... no comparison to the
Swedish version.

Noomie Rapace *made* the Swedish version - and she speaks perfect,
unaccented English.... so I had to wonder why they did not get her for
the American version..... but even with her in the lead role, the
American version would not have stood up to the Swedish.... It just
lacked the intricacies and nuances that the Swedish version had.

Wookiee, had to be Wookiee...

You mean "Wookiee" are a group of people ?

I know there are places called "Wookey Hole" and "Wookey Hole Caves"
near Wells, but did not know that "Wookiee" or "Wookey" were a group of
people.

I've seen Dragon Tattoo, Fire, and Hornet's Nest, all in the Swedish
versions. I've never seen the American version. I wonder if 'The Girl in
the Spider's Web' will make it to a movie. I've read mixed reviews but I
think there is some discontent when Lagercrantz stepped in after Larsson
died.

I've only seen some of the Wallander episodes in Swedish too, not the
British remakes, and read a couple of Mankell's book. It's somehow
apropos that the 'Faceless Killers' in 1991 theme revolve around
immigration and its discontents.

Not a 'Star Wars' fan I take it? I've only seen a couple of them but
that's enough to know Chewbacca is a Wookiie from the planet Kashyyyk. I
think Wookey Hole probably was there first.

faster her mouth had trouble keeping up, My personal opinion was her
brain and mouth weren't connected at all.

It was only one ear. When it was all over and the eardrum finally

But I do not think I lost any hearing from that one.... because it would
have shown up on tests as different results for each ear.

A side "benefit" of the chain saw experience was constant very high
pitched tones in both ears......

All-in-all, I'll take the deafness because before that I was constantly
tormented by sounds that were above the pitch that most people can hear.
Had to quit a perfectly good management trainee job at the local bank

I take it that the high pitched squeal from the horizontal output transformer in a CRT monitor or TV set is something you could also hear. I can still hear them and if the AC is off, the door closed and no one in this wing is screaming, I can hear ticking from the battery operated wall clock that's 15 feet away from me. I've always avoided loud noise even though as a young man chasing girls, I attended rock concerts. When I got older I would wear hearing protection when I was doing service work in bars and clubs where there was very loud music coming from the sound system. When it's very quiet, I hear the slight ringing in my ears from mild tinnitus but I can still hear a cockroach skittering around in the crumpled paper inside a trashcan. I can also hear the little critter scream when the bug spray hits it. ヽ(€¢€¿€¢)ノ

I can hear stuff like that with my hearing aids in, but don't always

I some times wonder what it's like to have hearing.
Or (back on subject) to have a gun?

I'm fortunate, not to have done service work in
excessivly loud areas. If I did, certainly use
hearing protection. Bring a note pad and pen to
communicate.

Was wondering about heat required to melt ice and find it is 80 cal/g.

That is why, once it is formed, it sticks around for a while even when
surrounding air is warmer.

Heat of vaporization is 540 cal/g.

DIY'ers should have some concept of this when it comes to plumbing and
heating. For example there are humidifiers sold that use hot water
claiming it vaporizes easier. Yes, but when you look at the heat
requirements to convert from liquid to gas, its minor.
