No, it's not a homemoaner forum and you don't have to like it nor do we have to cater to dumbass moaners and their unending stream of stupidity. See, there's the condescending attitude. Don't worry, you'll be out of busiuness with that attitude. Maybe you can go work at the DMV then. Hopefully all you "professional assholes" are out of work and the best you can do is make minimum wage digging ditches. Dude you are pretty thick in the head. You and the rest of the people on usenet are not customers. You aren't paying for ****. We aren't soliciting you for anything. It's an HVAC discussion group. Not help the homeowner with his problem group. No, it's really a "berate anyone who isn't one of us" kind of group. Shows the maturity, or lack of maturity, of hvac "specialists". Are you professionals? No, since you sure don't act that way. But you can be a professional ditch digger. Your opinion doesn't count. Your's doesn't. Or what you want alt.hvac to be.Actually, it's the USENET. When you realize it's not a club you'll catch on. Grow up and get over it. I suspect though that you'd rather bitch and moan about it. I got a service call Saturday for "central AC not cooling". The fellow told me over the phone it's a Goodman. Hmm. Yeah, I'm thinking. Janijunk? After some diagnosis, I found a couple of problems. One side of the breaker not delivering power, and of course the GE incapacitor had managed to disable the unit. As it was Saturday afternoon, the parts houses were all closed. I'd brought along a couple other capacitors that I had taken out of other equipment. The other one I put in also didn't work (hey, it's also a GE). So, crawling along on my hands and knees, out of water, twenty miles from the oasis, and it's all I can do to keep crawling. Oh, sorry, that was the shipwreck. Nevermind. Well, I did have another cap, though it had a higher farad rating. Not to worry. Wire it in, and push in the safety disconnect. Wonder of wonders, the fan jumped to life, and the piston compressor started to make its usual compressor noise. I've got to go back and put in a new cap on Monday. Per the advice here, I'll put in a GE. Job security, eh? I've also got plans to clean the condensor coils. I'd ask what kind of coil cleaner you guys use, but I'd start a two week flamefest. I'm going to use Alki-Foam (I think it's purple?). And of course, my favorite pressure washer. I'll let you know how it goes. -- Christopher A. Young Do good work. Dear Nick,
Thank you for your kind words. Actually, yes, the gentleman did email me and say kind things. I had to pick up some parts at one wholesale house, they didn't have the correct cap size. A second parts house did have them. I went back about a week later, and put in a new cap to replace the used one. (And dated the new cap with a Sharpie marker). The fellow says that the unit had been running pretty much all day. But now with a professional cleaning, the unit runs colder, and shuts down often. -- Christopher A. Young Do good work.
