Default Home depot bitch of the day.

I priced out Lesco Pre-emergent crab grass stuff 2 weeks ago... very
high at 38.xx per bag. This week 49.99 per bag.. They haven't gotten any
in, HD just jacked their prices.

I also needed furnace fiters.. been buying the Flanders brand filter...
a lot less than the 3m stuff. With a high merv rating. Well they now
switched to all Honeywell filters made by Flanders at more than 2x the
price... Nice of HD to be thinking we are made of money.

F them. That's not a small increase on either product.

Can you get Haltz by IIRC Scott's?

FWIW unless you have an allergy thing, most AC repair guys recommend the
99cent filters changed monthly. This includes my neighbor that was and
AC guy and did my repairs for next to nothing.

sale 2 weeks ago?

That's really surprising. They always used to carry three categories of
most items - Good, Better, Best. Surprising they got away from that.

Like I said, they haven't even got a shipment in, so all the bags were
last years bags. They had only one left, and it was 49.99.. The guy said
they have been unable to get in touch with the distributor... so they
are not sure when they will get it in, or if they will get it in.

Yep, now the store has one brand... HONEYWELL... but its HONEY NOT SO
WELL at those prices. Yea they have different merv ratings, but even the
lowest pleated was more than I was paying b4. So HD SUCKS.

I bought my last batch of furnace filters at the Re-Store
Habitat For Humanity outlet
3-M top grade 20x20x1 $ 5. each - I bought all they had.
I change them ~ monthly .. maybe 6 weeks in spring & fall .
... full retail for these, in Canada, is ~ $ 20.
- a rip-off in my opinion.

What I can tell you Jeff is that it's not usually advisable to believe what
the guy in the apron says about this kind of thing. Sometimes they really
are made aware by the store management, but generally - not so much. He may
indeed be correct but it sounds to my ear like he's making this crap up.
Jacking up the price on last year's inventory is just not how HD operates.

Try Glassfloss Z-Line filters from Amazon.com. They are MERV 11. You need
to buy them by the case but they've proven themselves to be as good as
anything 3M sells and at $5 each (in my 20X25X1 size) they seem quite
reasonable. A case should do you for at least four years.

No - it's the same. Take the on-line price into the store and that's what
you pay. End of story. You are seeing things Jeff, that just do not really
exist in the real world.

I am an HVAC guy, they sell a plastic horsehair type filter
(washable) that is usually green or orange. Air across the filter
sets up a natural static charge that helps reduce the dust n
pollens going across it. But, to increase the capability of the
filter, take some liquid soap, like Joy, mix it 50/50 with water
and spray in air entering portion of the filter. (The back has
like a 1/4 in plastic bonded screen.) let it dry and put into you
filter compartment. (cut the thing to size first. )

The soap will increase the stickyness of small stuff sticking to
it while the electrostatic charge helps with the rest. If heat
only system pull the filter, flush it with water and it will
reactivate the soap to was the filter off. Shake the water off
and respray. repeat every 4 months. If you have HVAC then up it
to once every three months.

The filters will last about two or so years, you can tell when it
is shot as it will become too limp.

Hope it helps.

I was looking at those.

Here's the thing, I use the filters for home HVAC, but I also have 2
other applications. 1 is a filter for my spray area, I suck up all the
overspray with it.

The other is a tower, (getting rid of it and making a downdraft table)
to clean the air... When I make the downdraft table it will be the air
cleaner too. So I want that downdraft table to have the finest
filtration... which will be multiple filters, pre-filters to catch the
initial stuf, and finer filters to catch all the find particles.. Will
this HAIR filter catch the fines? I think it would be a pre-filter right?

It certainly is to me. I am not out to be a million or billionaire. I
have known quite a few, and I really don't like most of them as people.
There are a couple of exceptions. Not sure if the money made them that

I can't see where greed would make anyone a more agreeable person.

There are all kinds of people, and there are those (both rich and poor)
that measure their success in life by money and possessions. It's a
score keeper of sorts. Some/many people need to keep score in a very
conventional way, You and I don't.

For better or worse, I'm a convention breaker myself. The world doesn't
need many like that, but it does need a few.

Yea, I don't get the popularity of the Kardashian's.. Losers if you ask
me...

For some, the best consolation for being a loser, is to have a ton of
money. How you get it, not as important.

It certainly is to me. I am not out to be a million or billionaire.

I
have known quite a few, and I really don't like most of them as people.
There are a couple of exceptions. Not sure if the money made them that
way, or the greed to get the money... I suspect its the greed.

I thought Kim looked pretty hot in that pic. There is something to be
said for eye candy.

I see nothing attractive about them. But to each his own.

Money can't buy you class, and they are proof of it.
But it's always nice at a party to have a few ladies who have a booty
big enough to sit your drink and hors'd plate on.

Noticed Home Depot is now advertising these in the last few days:

http://www.cabinetmakerfdm.com/91787.html

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Project-P...489?quantity=1

Online only, shipping can double the cost, no store delivery option, and
delivery time ten to 14 days?

Convenience always has a price, and there are situations where
"in-store" availability may justify that, but shipping costs and
delivery times don't classify as "convenient".

Good luck, CFP, with that business model ...

Did you notice the size, 2'x8', no full sheets.

That does not look like walnut, it looks like butternut.
Big difference.

Yep, but I did manage to do a faux "checkout" with a 4'x4' sheet of
walnut for $46 something, plus tax and a shipping cost of $55.

Equates roughly to $92/full sheet with no shipping. A few dollars more
than my old price sheet from Hardwood Products lists; and about $20 less
than Clark's, with no shipping.

Then again, I did not notice grade mentioned in the ad (grade is not an
indication of quality, just visible characterics).

AAMOF, I have recently bought higher quality imported C3 (as far as
ply's, no voids, and less brittle veneer) at Hardwood Products than some
of their Domestic A1 grade.

while it looks like walnut on my monitor, that means nothing as the
online ad might not be WYSIWYG.

Can't imagine CFP, or even Home Depot, actually selling butternut for
walnut ... be tough to get away with.

Considering that can you buy butternut in plywood and or IIRC butternut
is more expensive than walnut.
