Help!

We are having some building work, the nice people next door have allowed us
to shove some scaffolding up in their garden. Alas the scaffolding is
interfering with their satellite reception.

Is there any way that I can clad the scaffold in something to stop it
interfering with the reception?

No. The dish needs a claer line of sight to the satellite. You would
either have to move the dish or the scaffolding.
It's also possible of course that the dish may have been knocked out of
position slightly during installation of the scaffolding, in which case it
will need to be reset after the scaffolding is removed.

No the scaffolding is simply blocking the sat signal and there are a lot
of things less dense than two short planks! that will do that.

The signal comes in from a higher angle than what the dish appears to be
looking at as it were.

Either, get on with your work sharpish, or offer a sky installer to
connect up a sat dish somewhere on the scaffolding where it can "see"
the bit of sky its looking for, and connect that cable to the one thats
going to the current dish and when its all over then it can be connected
back.

Worth it for the permission to put the scaffold there in the first place
I would have thought!...

Why not temporarily move the dish to a clear line of sight, and then put it
back in its original position once the scaffolding has been removed.

It would be the work of moments to remove the dish from its wall
bracket and tape it to a scaffold upright where it can see the
satellite. Ring your local rigger.

In a word no. You could try getting the scaffold boards removed in the
line of sight of the dish. But this may have implications on the
certification of the scaffold, at the very least a barrier would need
to be fixed to stop anyone walking of the end of the existing boards.

It may be possible to get Astra SES to modify the geo stationary orbit of
the satellite to ensure a clear line of site to this dish. This can be
expensive though.

Bamboo scaffolding may work.


Alternatively.
It's (almost) trivial to buy a 100m length of cable, for around 20-30 quid,
and remount the dish where it's not affected.

It would be the work of moments to remove the dish from its wall
bracket and tape it to a scaffold upright where it can see the
satellite. Ring your local rigger.
