You'll find rough sleepers in places where there isn't a housing shortage. My only prejudice is you have denied a housing shortage contributes to sleeping rough. Pedantic as ever. You don't care a stuff about the reasons the majority sleep rough. You don't have a clue. But just want a possible minority reason to be the important one. For the obvious reason. You seem to be in denial that demand for housing, largely through immigration has made homes unaffordable for many. The housing shortage effects far more deserving cases than rough sleepers. Let's get that sorted first. That's quite a statement from you. Are you normally this insensitive to peoples' plights? Is it a Remoan thing? As one who claims to be concerned about rough sleepers as a priority - and rather obviously a Brexit nutter too, you might ponder this. :- Estimated cost to end rough sleeping - £180m Estimated cost to change passport from EU to UK - £480m The cost of the passport change is £0. Yes the contract to redesign and print them over the contract period is £480m, but for security reasons this is done every 5 years anyway, so there is no additional cost. On top of that, people have to pay for their passports, so the government recoups the money too. SteveW |

OT BBC/ PMQs

In article , says... Estimated cost to change passport from EU to UK - £480m Why? The present EU model is still valid and will continue to be until the original expiry date. If you want another passport you will have to renew it in the same way and the only thing that will change are the colour of the cover and a few word - mainly deletions. Both befrore and after Brexit, new supplies of passports will have to be ordered by The Passport Office at regular intervals, so the changes should cost nothingpence to apply. He's bought into a story that was going around some months ago and made the headlines in many papers. They'd simply ignored the fact that for security reasons a new design is used every 5 years and that when the existing contract expires in 2019, the new contract to design and print for 5 years will cost £480m - which would happen whether or not we left the EU and happily means that there is no cost at all to the colour and wording changes. The papers made out that it was all a cost of Brexit rather than a regular contract renewal. SteveW |
