I want to fit a mixer tap with shower head in place of the separate hot and cold taps. Will the holes be in the right place? (I can't measure the pitch right now.)

I've seen 180mm mentioned elsewhere in conjunction with mixer taps, so it does look as if this is the standard. The tap I'm considering is "Cambridge Bathroom Taps - Traditional Chrome Bath Filler Mixer Tap with Handheld Shower" from iBath on Amazon,co.uk. (Sorry, I can't add a link right now, as I'm using a relative's laptop and cannot get to grips with the ruddy awful mousepad!!!) |

When I was measuring my sink for new taps (eventually got a pair of beautiful bib taps, so hole spacing became irrelevant) the pitch was 180mm. The sink was fitted about 40 years ago, so it seems to be an old standard. -- Peter. The gods will stay away whilst religions hold sway |

Generally they will fit - assuming the new bath has holes at all - many you need to drill yourself. You may find some sufficiently old Victorian cast iron baths which will need a bit of filing to get modern taps on. -- Cheers, John. /================================================== ===============\ | Internode Ltd - http://www.internode.co.uk | |-----------------------------------------------------------------| | John Rumm - john(at)internode(dot)co(dot)uk | \================================================= ================/ |

It has separate hot and cold taps and I want to replace them with a mixer tap and shower attachment for when I come out of hospital in Jan/Feb (on waiting list for heart op). It's the closest I can get to a proper shower, as I won't be allowed to have a bath until at least 10 days after the op. I've since found a couple of YouTube vids that explain the installation of the mixer tap very well, using flexible braided hoses. It should be a piece of cake, provided the existing tap holes marry up to the new mixer tap. The standard plastic bath (with grab handles each side) was fitted approx 9 years ago when the house was built. |
