Well, I've looked at all recent emails form S/F and can't see any mention of
a 10% offer. How do you invoke it - do you need a special discount code or
something - or is it automatic?

Well it gives me a "unique code" so I presume it's unique to me .
It also says down at the bottom
"You have registered to receive these offers with the following email
address: "
so that might be why you aren't getting it if you havent registered .

Tart's tits...

That explains why I never get these mailshorts everyone speaks of - just
missed out on this one, fortunately only for a 55 quid order.

The tickboxes are under My Account / Personal Details

Just ticked both of them - let's see if that does the trick.

Thanks for the head up

Cheers

Tim

And don't forget for web orders you can go via
www.quidco.com if you
are interested in that .

*Both* boxes? I can only see *one*, and that says:

"Data Protection Act:
From time to time we may make portions of our mailing list available to
carefully selected organisations whose products may be of interest to you.
If you would like to receive such mailings, please tick this box."

As far as I can see, ticking that would leave me open to even more spam from
all and sundry - *not* to special offers from S/F.

Am I missing something?

I have just had a look and I too can only see one box,the one you
speak of. I have it ticked and must have had it ticked for a long time
..I can honestly say that the only stuff I get from Screwfix are a very
few mails about Special Offers and I get very little stuff that GMail
doesn't pick up so I doubt that you have anything to be worried about.
Like a lot of things nowadays the fear of spam is worse than the
actuality

There were two, until I ticked them, then after "Apply", all I see is the
one you all see.

The second is the DPA. The first one basicially said "keep me informed of
interesting things and discounts".

So I have no idea how you untick it...

This is all very odd! I *do* get quite frequent emails from S/F - including
one today with special offers on radiators etc. - all of which say that I'm
getting it because I've registered my email address to receive such offers.

*But* I've never had one containing a code to enable me to get a discount on
*everything*.

I suppose it's just possible that this particular email could have contained
something which matched one of my Mailwasher rules - causing it to be zapped
before I saw it. Or perhaps they're only sending these emails to people
who've bought more than I have in recent months.

I've only spent about £103 in the last 3 months or maybe more .Maybe a
phone call to SF would get an answer as to why you are not getting
these discount mailings

I've spent way less than that - my last order was in May, and only about
£30 - but I did spend about £400 earlier in the year.

Anyway, I emailed them to ask why I hadn't received the 10% offers, and
received the following reply:

"The Screwfix Direct Marketing team have advised that all our Marketing
E-mails are specifically targeted and this is determined by several factors.
However I have passed on your comments to our Marketing team for their
perusal and internal investigation."

So there you have it - it looks like I don't qualify! Maybe the 'Marketing
team' will come back with something - but I'm not holding my breath!
