Hello all,
This is the first time I have used newsgroups and thought this would be the best place to start. I was going to start posting in the security newsgroups but have been told that most things within this field are covered in this newsgroup. I'm currently working for a VMSecure, who supply business to business, products of a security related nature. One of our main products though is access control and we also deal a lot in CCTV. Due to this, I may be able to help a lot of you out there. If you have any queries on any of these products don't hesitate to get in touch. I can assist you in making the correct choice on a product to meet your requirments or I can help you choose and implement an access control system within your office/company. If you feel I may be able to help you then don't hesitate to contact me. Anthony Birch (Sales Manager) VMSECURE |

This is spam, you know it is spam, and we know it is spam, it is not allowed in most newsgroups and it is more likely to give you and your company a lot of abuse and a bad name, than generate any sales. |

The way it works from here is that you provide helpful, informative comments in relevant threads, taking care to never plug your own company or products. If you do this over a decent while, suspicions of spamming will gradually ebb and you'll become a valued member of the community. In the long run you'll probably make some sales, and establish your firm's reputation with a very diverse community of DIY'ers and other malcontents. The profit from this will *not* be sufficent to meet the time you will waste debating with us, because we're a legion or opinionated tinkerers and we like to yak on about it. Basically, if you're here to sell for gain then give up now. If you're here because you genuinely enjoy talking about technology, tools (we like angle grinders especially), sheds, saniflo's or scaffolding, then get a cuppa and join in. |

Hi all,
Many apologies to you all. As this is my first time using newsgroups I was unaware of any rules relating to posting spam. I have no intentions of promoting products through newsgroups as I here to help. I feel bad for getting off on the wrong foot with you all. My parents used to use newsgroups back in the good old days when they first appeared. Information obtained through these newsgroups was always useful so I was only trying to be a part. I apologise for stating the companies name, I thought it would just be a good idea to state what I do as a job. Once again I apologise to you all. Anthony Birch |

It would be so very easy to fall into abusive mode, and use terms such as "fibber", "lying *******" & so on but, as I don't want to do that, I'll just ask, if this is your "first time using newsgroups", who was it who posted the following? http://tinyurl.com/4jxzam By the way, do you live in Nottingham? |

You seem to have discovered how to cross post pretty early, though. And how to find relevant newsgroups. I have no intentions of promoting products through newsgroups as I here to help. Hmm. I feel bad for getting off on the wrong foot with you all. My parents used to use newsgroups back in the good old days when they first appeared. Then they would certainly have mentioned spam. It's as old as newsgroups. Information obtained through these newsgroups was always useful so I was only trying to be a part. I apologise for stating the companies name, I thought it would just be a good idea to state what I do as a job. Quite simple then. You answer related queries without promoting your products. You can say what you do for a living in a proper sig. -- *I finally got my head together, now my body is falling apart. Dave Plowman London SW To e-mail, change noise into sound. |

Can't speak for free.uk.diy.home, but the convention in uk.d-i-y (its too old to have a proper charter) is that explicit adds are not allowed. However if there is a genuine question to which you believe your product might help, you can mention it. It is also accepted by most if you include a link to your business site in your signature lines. So with that, welcome! -- Cheers, John. /================================================== ===============\ | Internode Ltd - http://www.internode.co.uk | |-----------------------------------------------------------------| | John Rumm - john(at)internode(dot)co(dot)uk | \================================================= ================/ |
