Hardly any of it has been implemented yet, except for the parts that prevent insurance companies from denying coverage for pre-existing conditions; the part that allows young adults to remain on their parents' coverage until age 26; and a partial closing of the Medicare Part D gap. A high-risk pool, a temporary thing that's in effect until 2014, also is in effect. Among those who's coverage that has effective, what statistics are you looking at? Has it caused you any problems? Then scare up stats on how many doctors and other medical people are retiring because of it. Tell us about those stats, since you're implying that you know what they are. Any actuals yet? http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com...n-five-points/ Dem ID down five points CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney (CNN) – The number of Americans identifying themselves as Democrats is at its lowest point in seven years, according to a new survey by Gallup - a warning sign for the president and his party as the next race for the White House gets set to begin. According to the annual Gallup survey of party identification, 31 percent of Americans say they are Democrats – a number that is down five percentage points from 2008 and is the same as it was in 2003 – the year following impressive Republican gains in the House and Senate. But Democrats can take some solace in the fact that an even smaller percentage of Americans (29 percent) identify themselves as Republicans, despite the GOP's hugely successful midterm elections that resulted in a change of control in the House of Representatives. That percentage is up 2 points from last year but still significantly below the 34 percent that said they affiliated with the GOP in 2004. Meanwhile, those Americans who say they identify with neither party has shot up to 38 percent, up 3 points since 2008 and among the highest it has been in the 22 years Gallup has conducted the survey. In a separate 2010 Gallup poll seeking to pin down the leanings of independent voters, 45 percent of Americans said they were Democrats or independents who leaned Democrat while 44 percent said the same about Republicans. The 1-point advantage for President Obama's party is the smallest in seven years. The survey results are based on aggregated numbers from 21 different Gallup and USA Today/Gallup polls conducted in 2010. In all, the results include information gathered from more than 25,000 interviews with U.S. adults by telephone. And the trend is increasing..... -- Maxim 12: A soft answer turneth away wrath. Go look at the schedule of implementation for the Act: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patient...dable_Care_Act Two tidbits of information came up recently. Yesterday on a panel discussion with Ralph Nader, Ted Turner, and and insurance executive named Lewis, Nader mentioned that when polling doctors and nurses they come out strongly on the side of a single payer health care system. The other is one I saw on TV where it was mentioned that the cost of health care premiums was coming down due to the implementation of Obama care. I can't remember which provision it was exactly but it was actually bringing down premiums for the first time. Lastly, we haven't begun to hear the positive effects that are coming from the increase to 26 years of age allowing kids to stay on their parent's policies. That alone has got to be helping a lot of people. So I'd say Obama care is having positive effects already and it's only beginning to be implemented. As usual, you're going to see that the dire predictions by the right wing about Obama care will be wrong. Just like their predictions about tax increases or cuts, or Iraq. Hawke |

Statements like that just show how out of touch you are. The truth is Obama is in a lot of trouble with the progressive or liberal wing of the Democratic party. I guess you never heard about that over at Foxnews. The fact is Obama is getting all kinds of flack from his own supporters over a lot of his decisions. He's getting criticized on Gitmo, Afghanistan, his deal with the republicans that kept the Bush tax cuts for two more years, and now his promising to make cuts in social safety net programs, which you'll soon be wanting to participate in. So the truth is many Democrats are criticizing Obama over many things. So wise up. Nobody thinks Obama is perfect. It's just that when you compare him to Bush it seems like he is. Hawke |

Hawke- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Correct..I personally have a HUGE problem with the $585 BILLION REPUBLICAN tax cut that Obama allowed to occur. I also understand that the REPUBLICANS held the Country hostage to get it...so I cut Obama some slack. Just like they are doing now to get what they want..the Republicans would rather destroy the Country than to compromise. Time to do some conservative housecleaning come 2012. TMT |
