Default REQ: Machine Shop in Chicago area for small one-time job

I am looking for a machine shop to drill extra holes in a bicycle hub.

http://www.amclassic.com/en/products...ssettebody.php

This hub is available with 24 total holes (12 on each flange) I would
like a shop to drill a new hole between every existing hole to create
a 48 hole hub (24 holes on each flange).

The holes should be about 2 mm (0.079 in.) in diameter. Straight
holes are O.K. Countersinking is not required.

Any suggestions appreciated. Please post to group.

TIA

Just a few questions, what do you think this is going to cost you?

Is this for a tandem bicycle?

I'd try the yellow pages unless your idea was to see if the hobby types here were willing
take this on for beer money.

Some dowel rod embeded in wood blocks? If you have the right cutters you can play 'Tower
of Hanoi'.

That reminds me of the by-2-by-2 rule of thumb: what do you think that
it SHOULD cost? Twice that is what it probably WILL cost. Twice again
is what it COULD cost. Works surprisingly often.

And while you're answering questions -- will there be enough meat left
after you're done adding the extra perforations?

I gotta do this one day -- I've had a LeMond "Alpo De Huez" sitting in
my garage for years, waiting for a 44-spoke hub so I can turn it back
into an "Alpe De Huez". At 250 pounds, I'm a bit too hard on a 32-spoke
wheel on a short-coupled bike.

I'm thinking you could easily buy that nice rotary table twice for the
price of the machining. A Phil Woods tandem axle hub costs more than
that; I don't think you'll beat out Phil for price with a custom one-off
at a professional shop.

(Unless Iggy wants to do it for beer money on his new CNC machine).

I figured that much when I saw it.

The problem is..is that I have a number of cutters the same diameter
with the same arbor sized hole and others with different sized arbor
holes. Id rather keep the cutters seperated by the arbor size and tooth
counts. Just makes it easier for me to find something I need.

Im thinking more and more about the cabinet with dowels...its very
similar to your idea, just vertically..but something about letting them
hang there, vibrating their teeth together with vibration and sonic
booms and whatnot..bothers me.
