Default Lantern Mantles? Coleman or generic?

Have you tried the battery operated flourescent lanterns at Costco? 12 or 15
bucks, they burn for many hours and light up a campsite. Much cheaper and
less hassle than propane.

Doesn't keep you very warm in your ice fishing shanty though.

It's highly likely that this wasn't the first trouble this guy'd had.

I don't know - his boss was likely on the edge of life
with the storm and so many problems.

A major cost and loss of time on the machine until fixed was
a sore spot.

Yeah, but it was insured, I'm sure. Still, one mistake and you're
gone? Highly unlikely, I sez.

They're saying he is fired now, but odds are that he will be reinstated
after a suspension. I'm not familiar with the laws/labor agreements in
Wisconsin, but if he was a heavy equipment operator and not just a laborer,
he probably has some contractual rights to at least a hearing. "Was the
employee ever instructed that driving a payloader on ice could result in a
problem?", etc., etc..

IIRC, the last time I read my vehical policy is said I wasn't covered if I drove my car
out on the ice and it fell through.

I was thinking that same thing, but since they didn't mention it, I
guessed that it was not so. We'll see, ah reckon.

He was clearing the ramp and "accidentally" slid onto the ice. I'll
bet the insurance covers it.

Presentation matters in all things including fly fishing.

And if he was asked to do it by a police person - higher authority...
Brain disengages and does as he is told.
