Ping Jim Chandler and Bruce Bergman..Pistol Match
If both of you gentlemen would call me 805-732-5308 Id appreciate it
Jim..I need directions to the match Sunday..Im in Ontario and have very limited internet access, and cant find the directions. Bruce , Ive got a couple 9mms, a couple 38/357s, several .45s, my pet ..41 magnum and some others, with me. Im short on ammo for the 9mm and the 38s, didnt have time to handload any over the (working) holiday. You either need to buy some (best price at Walmart at the moment..."white box", or tell me what you want to shoot, and Ill buy some for the shoot Sunday. Call me and we can discuss it. As opposed the province of Canada with 12m bodies. Just checking :-)). Wolfgang |

I can always Dial 1911. Have plenty of ..22LR and .25 East on Bear Valley Road (Hwy 18) and from the aerial maps you make left on Rabbit Springs Road - it's a dog-leg where Hwy 18 bends south a bit, and Rabbit Springs follows that due East property line. Then an IMMEDIATE Left (~100 feet) onto the range access road. a hundred feet due West, then turn right and about two miles due North tucked up against the base of the hills. The whole mess looks like it was a 4-way stop at one time, then they decided to reconfigure and make the highway through traffic. I'm going to bed. Don't expect me at 7, I'll try to be rolling by then, Dad permitting. -- Bruce -- |

Ping Jim Chandler and Bruce Bergman..Pistol Match
It was Great meeting you and Jim Chandler!
I enjoyed working with you on technique and you were doing quite well there towards the end of the match. The offer still stands, get yourself a reliable shooting iron of your choice, and come on up and Ill run you through my personal "stay alive on the street" course. Or simply come up and Ill dig something up for you to fire off. For those of you that could have gone, but didnt, you missed one of the nicest facilities Ive seen (and Ive seen many), and a great bunch of people, and a very enjoyable shooting experience. I fully intend on making any future shoots that they have. Ive not enjoyed myself (well..except for being so damned rusty at this sort of competition..sigh...) in a long time and it felt damned good to step out onto the firing line again. Running a few rounds downrange every 3-6 months just doesnt keep the skill levels honed. Winter (and cooler weather) is coming..so more range time....time to start reloading and bullet casting again. Thanks Jim, and Im looking forwards to meeting you again, and the same to Bruce. Bruce, give my respects to your Dad for me. A very nice man indeed. Gunner, who won the Most Scarred Knees Award. |

I have to shake the extended Family Tree and see if there are any other heirloom shootin' irons that Aunts and Cousins don't know what to do with... They shouldn't be in closets. Then I'll start shopping in earnest. For those of you that could have gone, but didnt, you missed one of the nicest facilities Ive seen (and Ive seen many), and a great bunch of people, and a very enjoyable shooting experience. You did notice they have their version of a Hogans Alley in the back, right? Thanks Jim, and I'm looking forwards to meeting you again, and the same to Bruce. Bruce, give my respects to your Dad for me. A very nice man indeed. Shall do - it's almost time for the goodnight check-in. Gunner, who won the Most Scarred Knees Award. Yeah, you might have the knees, but Dad's still got you beat by a country mile for the "M.D. Needlework Award". Need to mill the Savage Stevens Model 34 for a scope, in case I need to make a Long Distance Call - that works much better than throwing a rock. Does that get dovetails, or just a couple of tapped holes? -- Bruce -- |

Need to mill the Savage Stevens Model 34 for a scope, in case I need to make a Long Distance Call - that works much better than throwing a rock. Does that get dovetails, or just a couple of tapped holes? 22 bolt action? I think Id order a dovetail base from brownells http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/sto...SCOPE%20 BASE drill the 2 or 3 holes as suits your action, and mount a decent Chicom http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-NcSTAR-6x32-COMPACT-RIFLE-SCOPE-1-HUNTING-SNIPER_W0QQitemZ380062571271QQcmdZViewItem?hash=it em380062571271&_trkparms=72%3A1163|39%3A1|66%3A2|6 5%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 scope with a dovetail ring set from ebay as well http://cgi.ebay.com/Weaver-1-Scope-R...QQcmdZViewItem Hell..I can probably find you a scope in the stacks o stuff gunner -- Bruce -- "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened." -- Norman Thomas, American socialist |

The feelin is mutual Gunner and Bruce. BTW Bruce, Anne's son, Brian, sends his thanks to your dad for pulling his ticket for the S&W .40. We are already working on another match of some kind and I'll pass it on as soon as something is firmed up. If you think the range is nice now, wait until they get done fixing it up. That patio area is going to be torn down and re-built. This is only one of three ranges in the country owned by Lions Clubs. I'm joining this coming Thursday, or at least putting in my app. Hope to see you guys again soon. If I don't get down before, which I probably will, I'll get with you on the 26th, Gunner and give you your trophy. I have tickets to go see a taping of Jeopardy and will be passing pretty close by. Jim if you still have my phone number, give me a call the day before if you know when you are passing through and ill meet you, or if im hung up someplace, or you can drop it off a few blocks south off the 10 freeway, , off Central Ave. 5 minutes off, 5 minutes back on, at most. Woody's Bar & Grill 1528 W. Holt Blvd,Ontario,California 91762 I hang out, play pool there (chuckle...Im a non drinker..which confuses some of the patrons)...Im pretty well known there, so if we cant make the meet up, give it to any of the lady bartenders for Gunner, they will hold it for me. Take a look at the model airplanes hanging from the ceilings, all done by an Air Farce bird colonel who lives in the area. Are the final scores posted anywhere on the net? It would be interesting to see the various scores/classes. Question though...I noticed several people shooting .22s. One assumes that their scores were tallied differently than those shooting a Major caliber? If not..Ill bring the High Standard Citation the next time EG No recoil and points real fast....chuckle Gunner "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism, but under the name of liberalism they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program until one day America will be a socialist nation without ever knowing how it happened." -- Norman Thomas, American socialist |

I'm pretty sure your number is still in my phone. Nope, I didn't post the scores anywhere. Not enough were interested to worry about it. I do have copies of them but there is no way of telling whohad which weapon. The .22s were just lumped in with all the rest because of the small number of competitors. It would depend greatly on what the lady bartender looks like whether I give it to her or not. :-) jim |
