Default custom made bar pins

hi. I want a 80mm bar pin but after hours and hours of web search
couldn't find a single supplier of bar pins this big... Now i'm trying
to have this custom made but I'm seriously struggling to find a
company that will do the actual "pin". I can have the "support" for the
pin done with laser cutting, but all the companies i've contacted to
have the pin done came back to me with negative answers or didn't reply
at all....! Can anyone please help me??? either by telling me where i
can buy a brooch pin this size (this would be haven) or by letting me
know of any company or supplier of custom made pins...

cheers x

If you want it in precious metal, it will probably need to be custom built.
This is a common task for most goldsmiths and the labor would probably cost
less than the laser cutting.

However this is a very long span for a pin, and the stem is likely to be
very floppy.

Check with suppliers of "Scottish Dance" paraphernalia. They use some
large pins for various purposes.

Default custom made bar pins

hi!
thanks so much for the info, the shop is amazing however, and only
to further develop my despair and suffering, they don't sell
worldwide!!!! I live in the UK (starting to hate this country!)...
after some more hours of intensive search on the web for online shops
with stem pins that long, or with stem pins full stop..., i couldn't
find a single one!! Now i'm just gonna have to post another add asking
if someone would be so kind as to be by "US delivery address" and to
post me the items...of course with "expenses for the trouble paid"!!
The most ridiculous thing is that even with all this trouble and "extra
expenses" its still very profitable to buy on the states...
Anyway thank you again
john

How many do you seek and how much of a hurry are you in? If just a
few small items, I'll be having visitors from the UK here (US) in a
couple of weeks and my wife will be going to the UK again in August.
I have no idea what a stem pin or bar pin is.

Jewelry component parts, in this case it sounds like the straight
pin with hinge and a bar backing with the swivel latch gizmachi. You
solder or braze it to the back of the finished pin before final
plating and finishing. They also plastic-weld the exact same part to
the back of laminated engraved plastic name tags, and the plastic
oozing through the punched holes in the bar backing holds it on.

Keep searching, John - there are specialty companies out there that
pound out these findings by the million, and sell them wholesale to
fine and costume jewelry makers. Search for companies in and around
Providence, Rhode Island, as that town is a nexus for jewelry
manufacturers in the USA.

The problems with international deliveries will stem from either
shipping and customs hassles, or the supplier getting paid hassles.
Both can be overcome with some patience.

Hey John,

Co-incidence raises its ugly head once again. I went to a garage sale
this morning, and picked up a box of bits and pieces for a buck. In
the box was a package of "2 Kilt Pins", 77mm long, approx 15mm wide,
formed of 2.2 mm plated wire.

Here you go...

Send me a postal address directly to my email account, and I'll mail
them to you.

Take care.

Hey John,

Click on the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop.

Type in www.google.com and hit the return key.

In the Search Box, type in what it is you want to know, in this case

"Kilt Pins", and hit return.

Should bring up a long list of kilt pin retailers. They sell mostly
finished pins with some clan ID fastened, more along what I would call
"broaches" rather than pins at this point. But I would contact the
nearest one to yourself, and explain what it is you want.

Take care.

Brian Lawson,
Bothwell, Ontario.

ps....I have already replied to you directly with a source I stumbled
on.
