Hmmmm...I wonder if it's the 8" of snow in my driveway that makes me
think of sailing out of Key West about now??

Snow? You're lucky, we just got tons of cold rain all night (of course
you don't have to shovel rain).

We're well to the west of Brian (mid-Michigan) and only got about 2"
of wet snow after the rain. I'll take the rain any day.

Rutu is progressing but the web site updates ended when I lost the source
files in a disk crash. I did finally recover the source files for the web
site the other day so look for updates soon.

For the past month I have been installing everything in the engine
compartment. This is a space about the shape of a refrigerator on its side
into which I have installed 2" of sound proofing, water heater, air
compressor, two seawater strainers, three pumps, water lift muffler,
steering lines, fuel filters, thrust bearing, stuffing box, assorted cables,
valves and hoses and, oh yeah, a 56 HP diesel.

I had to plan each time whether I should squeeze past the engine stringers
frontward or back in and invariably when I got positioned I would realize I
needed an 8mm socket rather than 3/8" or a square drive rather than
Phillips. My back side is blank and blue. :-)

The grass is always greener. My son down in Tampa reported 12" of rain
Friday afternoon. Spent 2 hours getting his Mini Cooper up on concrete
blocks to keep it from drowning!

Default Rain versus Snow w as PING: Glenn Ashmore..about the boat

Hey Speff,

Yeah, I was talking to my brother-in-law in Etobicoke this morning,
and he said they had nothing.

I went to bed late Friday evening, and it was snowing furiously, and
maybe 2" on the ground at that time. Got up Saturday morning to no
snow in sight anywhere and constant rain all day. Power tripped off a
few times watching TV after supper last night. Went to bed to still
raining, and got up this morning to about 8" of this white crap, and
it's still coming down occasionally a bit. The wind has backed
though 360, so there is snow on every wall and window, and piled
against every doorway!

Nice part about being retired....I don't have to go out, and the
neighbours think I'm old and won't care that I didn't shovel. We
don't have sidewalks anyway.

Take care.

Brian.

ps... I have a couple of air-band scanners in the shop. Because of
the Super Bowl, there is a NOTAM for a 30 mile radius restricted
airspace from Ford Field and block arrival times for everyone for all
this week and until Monday midnight, plus a security restriction
absolutely no-fly zone for all day today. Kinda neat listening to
all the exec jets arriving and almost everyone of them asking if the
limo got to the airport OK to pick up the passengers!! A lot of them
are flying into Windsor, and they also want Customs to come out to the
ramp!

I've tried too stupid, too slow, too sick, too fat, too old, and lots
of others I didn't like "too much". I'd still like to try too rich
though!

Glenn -

Suggest to him to make a car stacker elevator. - Where space isn't there to
drive up to a floor - often an elevator took cars up and then they drove
off the end to the floor...

All he needs is the lift. Some gas station might be out of luck and the
4 posted lifts they have outside - not the singles inside - would be the
ticket. It can be down all of the time - but when it has to rise,
a water switch could trigger the up button - or the wife could anytime...
Might find one at lower or give-away prices.

I'm still working, so I've got to clear it. I also have a 1-1/2 story
with add-ons with built in lousy attic ventilation, so I usually rake
the eaves. Yuk. The wife's dog, on the other hand, loves the stuff.
We always go for a walk in the woods behind the house, and he stuffs
