What's the temp of the freezer? You mean there is no ice forming in the icemaker or that there is ice but it doesn't eject into the bin?

Remove the ice maker. Determine if the water supply line is frozen OR
if the plastic water supply chute is frozen.

Hollar back.

The instructions (some) say that it takes longer to freeze the cube
mold. OP expects ice in 3 hours. Not on my shift.

You may have to wait a few more hours. I replaced mine a while back and
it was quite a while before it finally cycled. Also, check that you
have everything it the proper position to switch it on.

Some ideas here

Did you install the wire bail over the tray? Is it down?

In addition, some of the newer freezer/icemakers have a reset button.
Mine stopped making ice after an apparent power glitch. I had to press
the reset button and then, magically, ice started appearing in about a
half hour. I don't hate microcontrollers, just the people that design
them and really don't know what fault tolerance is.

The instructions that came with mine say to expect ice after 12-24
hours.

Have you determined the cause of the leak in yours, Wayne? Inquiring
minds and all. If you posted, I may have missed it.

I have eliminated the icemaker itelf, as well as its adjustment setting
and feed tube. I have a technician coming on Tuesday to deal with the
solenoid feed valve as it is mounted at the bottom corner of the
refrigerator and I'm physically not able to get down on the floor to
work on it. Will post the results of that visit.

I would not buy a refrigerator with an ice maker. With only 2 of us it
is not bothersome to put water in plastic trays. I hear about these
things leaking and breaking down all the time.

Ice makers are the #1 reason for service calls. I replaced the one in
my old fridge. Unlike you, I'd not buy a fridge without an ice and
water dispenser on the door. I'm willing to pay for the convenience and
we use it often. My wife has an insulated mug of ice water with her 24
hours a day.

+1 to that

My latest one has crushed ice and it's a big improvement. That crushed
ice cools a room temp drink down instantly and it's easier to drink out
of a glass with crushed, versus those cubes getting in your face.

Still, like you say, they are far from perfect. We have to shut off
the ice maker to keep the bin from getting too full. If it gets loaded
with so much ice that you can't use it within a few days to a week,
then it winds up sticking together and jambing things up.

I have the opposite problem. I can get on the floor, test the
solenoids (3 on mine). Replace the unit in a few minutes.

I just can't get up.

Generally, I think, they are pretty reliable. We've had icemakers in
our refrigerator for the past 43 years and only had problems with the
first one which was traced to the solenoid getting gunked up due to
unsoftened water. Cured that temporarily by cleaning up the valve and
later cured it permanently with an in-line filter cartridge before
connecting to the ice maker. Second one absolutely no problem with it.
Third one, LG French Door with water/ice in the door, again, no problems.

We find the convenience of cubed or crushed ice in the door to be very
handy. YMMV.

I can get down on the floor too. The last time I fell, my knees gave way while I was exiting the bathroom so I put a towel under me and dragged my but around the house to get my things together before calling paramedics. When I spoke with the lady from dispatch, I told her,"Mam, you're not gonna believe this but I've fallen and I can't get up."(from the TV commercial) ヽ(ヅ)ノ

I had to crawl under the desk the other day to replace the apc on my
computer. Quite a chore with bifocals and a flashlight. On the
refrigerator I often have to get on the floor to search the bottom shelf
and that is a PITA. If wife is around I ask her to look as she is much
shorter.

I should clarify... I actually can get down to the floor, but like
you, I can't back up. I've also been warned by my doctor not to torque
my spine and to avoid any twisting motions.

I knew what you meant. Medical conditions have sure changed the older
I get. I don't go up, over and under things like I used to.

I wouldn't consider this practical foar everyday use, but ideal for
entertaining. It can't be plumbed and the reservoir would have to be
filled more than once a day. Not much different than filling ice cube
trays in that respect. Also, the ice these machines make is typically
softer and melts faster. A big downside for me is that I would have no
place to put it. Accoding to the FAQ on Amazon, many people reported
breakdowns, some on replacement machines.

Thanks for the thought.

Production ice makers store the ice in a bin that hovers right around
32-33f. The ice is always melting but they assume you will be using it
pretty fast and it will not be sticking together. Residential ice
makers store ice at around 0f so melting should not be a problem but
sublimation might because of the defroster. If your ice is sticking
together in a residential ice maker bin, you either have a water
leak/over fill condition or the freezer is not cold enough.
