Default BBQ SMOKE IS ILLEGAL IN FLORIDA?

On 7/28/2015 8:30 AM, trader_4 wrote:

I don't even see a law that applies. The article talks about some
guy having an issue with his neighbor. The apparent law talks
only about "commercial" BBQs not being exempt from air quality laws.....
This is like so many things, the details are lacking. If the
guy is doing small scale, typical, BBQ occasionally on his property,
it's one thing. If he's doing large scale stuff every day with
the smoke blowing onto a neighbor close by home, then it's another.

That may be the case. Or not. We don't know.

When I smoke food overnight the neighbors may comment, but sometimes
they get to share in the bounty of the smoker. If the neighbor is
cooking once a week or so, usually not a big deal.

If the guy doing the cooking is doing it every day and then goes off to
sell his product, the neighbor probably has a legitimate complaint. No
matter how good is may smell, I'd not want it every day.

Recall the problems with the hot sauce guy in California recently. Some
years back a new Frito Lay plant had many neighbors complaining about
odors.

Or the neighbor may just be a miserable bitch.

Article says they have a dispute with a neighbor. In those cases there
are always at least three sides to the story. We're only getting one
here.

There is nothing like having a crazy woman for a neighbor. I've personally experienced their insanity and meddlesome behavior. It would take a whole day to write about most of the nosy neighbors and total wackos of both sexes or "genders" I've put up with over the years. o_O

I saw this and disagree with most of the posters. I see some gov't guy who
was just doing his job because the municipality passed a law about the
smoke. If he didn't go out then he would be canned because the powers to be
obviously have some kind of interest in it's enforcement or a neighbor has a
hard on. Most of these kind of laws aren't enforced. I like the reaction of
the evil doer g calm & collected. What a waste of resources. Now if he had
a dozen defunct washers or refrigerators on his lawn then I wouldn't like
it. The guy could most likely fight it and win. Describe what you smelled,
how could differentiate this from other odors. What were the weather
conditions at the time. Were you trained in odor identification? How did you
measure it? How long did it last? What are some of odors in the courtroom
now? Do you use antiperspirant? What were you doing immediately before you
smelled this? Where were you when noticed it? Do you have any documentation
this is hazardous to the public or regulated by the state? So on. Might be
some all powerful HOA.

If you do a little reading you see that this is not your

the
neighbor says she measured CO at 170 PPM in her yard.
I still think there is more going on here.

A 55 gallon drum is pretty standard for smokers, at least in
Texas it is

"shoot to kill"? You have been watching too many old movies. Nowadays, you
shoot to stop the thread, and if death results, well them's the breaks.

CH47A 63-07903 and 67-07908 were produced as 8 wheel configuration a/c.
One was converted to Hi-Floatation configuration by Boeing to show
they could do so and the other a/c was converted after an accident.
The conversions showed it feasible to rework the earlier airframes to
the larger tires and steerable aft gears common to all Chinooks after
65-07922. doncha know?

I guess this story will disappear with just our speculation left.

I was only making a remark on what this poster stated (valid or not).

I never have either but when I swept my hand back the guy with the bat took

Do you have a citation for this? We can still burn where I am, regrettably..
We've got one guy about four doors down who piles up a bunch of
just-fallen leaves and lets them smolder. Stinks up the neighborhood
and gives my asthmatic husband problems.

For burning brush, the township wants us to burn no more than a
4' x 4' x 4' pile, but we annually burn a much bigger pile than
that, and no one squawks. We wait until the pile is dry and will
burn cleanly.
