motion sesor wiring question
Hello - attaching a motion sensor unit to a lamp/radio (for use garden
to scare away critters!). Question on the wiring. Direction book not very clear. I have white (ground) and black (hot) from the lamp, white and black from the power supply and white, black and red from the sensor. The only part of the directions that make sense say "red sensor wire to black lamp wire." The rest just says white to white and black to black.... paul |

The black wire on the sensor is power(in), the red wire on the sensor is switched or power(out). In standard North American house wiring for 120 volt AC circuits, white is the neutral, black is the hot wire or feed and green is the ground wire. When you get into switched circuits you may wind up using different colors for the switched circuit. Three conductor with ground Romex has red, black, white and bare copper ground wires. Just remember, the red wire on your motion detector is the power output to your lights. TDD |

All 3 white wires will go under 1 wire nut. The black from the supply will hook to the black on the sensor. The red from the sensor will hook to the black on the lamp/radio. (I assume the lamp/radio only has a black and white wire) |
