Default motion sesor wiring question

Hello - attaching a motion sensor unit to a lamp/radio (for use garden
to scare away critters!).
Question on the wiring. Direction book not very clear. I have white
(ground) and black (hot) from the lamp, white and black from the power
supply and white, black and red from the sensor. The only part of the
directions that make sense say "red sensor wire to black lamp wire."
The rest just says white to white and black to black.... paul
