Home Despot results....
Just had my new washed maple shaker kitchen installed by the despot in
toronto with real bad results. crew bearly spoke english on install and workmanship very shoddy. Calls to manger and customer service are a waste of time, credit card company refuses to take on HD by charging back the $6K. Kid who sold me the kitchen now just shakes his head and walks away, have noticed that the complaints area is well removed from the sales area with good reason. Avoid the Despots. I hear that in the states they half assed care due to competition with lowes, but up here they don't give a rats ass. |

Greetings, Do you have a specific complaint such as "1/16 inch expansion gap left around edge of room, should be 1/8-1/4 inch"? Pick a specific complaint, let us know what they say. William |

I made the mistake of giving them a $9,000 order to recarpet my entire house some years back. What a disaster-- from double-charging my credit card to sloppy installation by their crew to the carpet rising up into ridges about 2 years after install-- with full denial of responsibility all the way and refusal to do anything about it Good thing I live in Atlanta (their corporate HQ) and my next door neighbor is a senior VP with them. Good thing he pulled some strings for me-- or I would have been hung out to dry. S1 |

Until you bought it up, that is. I'm not sure what your obsession with race is, but it wasn't necessary to make your racist comments, Sherman. |

Doesn't matter where they brought the crews in from, Canada has competent
crafts and trades people just like we do.The difference is once again, H/O's using retailers like the one mentioned here, expecting to get quality, skilled tradesmen and it ain't ever gonna happen. If you expect to have quality service provided, expect to pay for it.......as you can clearly see you are gonna get exactly what you pay for. Old cliches are old cliches for a reason. We've only had HD up here in Maine until recently...Lowe's showed up. What a difference! Lowe's sales people actually help you find things unlike HD's who run for the nearest exit when they see a customer start to approach them. I have noticed HD's people changing a little lately and hopefully it's in response to people being fed up with their attitudes now that they have a choice. That is the pattern for both stores when they first open a new location. Wait several months and compare them again. |

Cin HD and Lowes have their good and bad points. Lowes is definitly a nicer experience in my opinion... clear looking store, easier to get someone to help you... however, I think HD has lower prices or lumber and stuff. |

Most of the time I go to HD, the salesguy (when I can get 'em), winds
up saying "That's right where it would be if we had it." That was for a small bathroom sink/cabinet combination. Lowe's had four on the shelves. Looking for floor tile, at HD tiles weren't where the shelf markings said they were. Could'nt find a salesguy. At Lowe's, at the flooring desk, you can press a button and the PA system calls for someone to come to that department. FWIW |

Funny thing is, around here (Long Island) the Lowes store here
fustrates the hell out of me when you need help. Its not uncommon to wait 20 or so minutes to ask someone if the have something in stock. You never seem to find anyone is the isles, its always a page here and a page there. Over at depot, usually I find someone around that can point me to the right location. On occasion I had to wait too. Just not every SINGLE time like I did at Lowes. Prices? They are basically the same. Molding quality is a little better at Lowes around here. The HD that I usually go to is getting a little better. While Lowes around here may seem a little cleaner, I find that HD just has more choices on stuff to choose from. Tom |

Too bad a profound and true statement like that will just end up being another cliche. heh I plan to use it frequently enough to annoy my coworkers. Ha Ha Ha, you guys keep hiring crews from HD and Lowes. I love it. In a
busines that you clearly get what you pay for everbody keeps their wallets closed as tight as possible. When you hire a crew from one of these places you must remember one thing, "they work for Home Depot for a reason". Years and years ago I investigated being a subcontractor for these outfits, I would never have my name on the lack of quality they accept as a finished product. Go ahead, keep hiring them, you will call a real contractor sooner or later and pay 3 times as much to fix everything. |
