Hello,
I am looking for a specific style of shelf supports that I can't seem to find anywhere. They are mounted to rails at the back of your bookcase in 3/4" or 1" slots. The bracket that hold up the shelf is virtually a flat piece of metal bent at 90 degrees that hooks into the metal rail. This is different from most other shelf support and rail systems in the design of the support. The flat side of the metal is parallel to the floor. Most of the other rail systems have the flat side of the support perpendicular to the floor to give extra strength to the support. There is a specifice reason for having the flat side horizontal. If I were to put a book onto a shelf without checking where the support was, I could push it back into the shelf support and squash all the pages on that edge, thus ruining the book. If anyone has any ideas where to find such a support, I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Sean. |

I've never seen one like that and I doubt it would be strong enough to
support books. The rest of us use shelf pins to prevent the problem you describe. Several styles are shown he http://www.rockler.com/ecom7/product...segm ent_id=3 "Sean Dees" wrote in message ... I am looking for a different type of shelf support than you usually see. The
piece that connects to the "shelf standard", and holds up the shelf, is not a vertical piece that I want but a flat piece. It would look a little bit like a standard shelf "clip" if the shelf clip were 10" long instead of the usual 1" to 1 1/2" or so. Anyone else seen something like that? Thanks, Sean. Here's the closest I've seen. It's still 1/2" thick, but designed to fit
into a groove on the bottom of the shelf. They Call it a "floating Bracket" http://www.rakks.com/products/brackets.html "Sean Dees" wrote in message ... Yes, I have seen them. They are in a local bookstore. Unfortunately I can
not ask them where they got them because I am the competition. Sean. "Rumpy" wrote in message ... Have you ever seen one? Or do you just want one? "Sean" wrote in message ... That "floating bracket" is the closest I have seen, but still not quite what
I need. The ones that I saw in a local bookstore looked a little like the "floating brackets", but they were turned upside down. They also weren't so fancy. (ie: read "expensive". I will be buying about 700 hundred of them, so the price is a factor. At $11.00 each for an 8" bracket, it is too much.) The ones that I saw also looked like they fit into more common looking "standards". (With vertical slots every inch or two.) Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sean.
