Default Galvanised Roof

Generally in good condition apart from a corner beneath an apple tree
where the acid in the fruit has got to the zinc.

Would like to prevent further deterioration€” paint? What kind of paint?

No low-hanging fruit, just a lot of small berries up a tall tree.

Bitumen if you want black, household gloss or any metal paint. Or anything else that's waterproof. Bitumen is best sand sprinkled to reduce summer temps a bit.

I was going to say, from my experience the inside temp of anything painted
black can be a lot hotter than it was when it was a kind of galvanised
colour!
And attempting to put a lighter colour over it seems to make no difference
either!

I had a similar problem last year. Having wire-brushed I painted with
"Hammerite Special Metals Primer" followed by "Hammerite smooth" - it's
early days but it still looks good.

Why not try a cold galvanising paint, such as

https://www.toolstation.com/cold-gal...y-400ml/p60070

but remove the rust first!

spraying would increase the cost, hassle & mess. But yes to zinc, it's as good a rust preventer as you'll get.
