I can't connect at the moment, and was unable to post a couple of day
ago. I have been using aioe instead.

Andrew Mawson formulated the question :
no news coming in, is Eternal September up the spout?

It has just begun the synchronisation process, new posts have begun to
appear at last.

Future generations will wonder in bemused amazement that the early
twenty-first centurys developed world went into hysterical panic over a
globally average temperature increase of a few tenths of a degree, and,
on the basis of gross exaggerations of highly uncertain computer
projections combined into implausible chains of inference, proceeded to
contemplate a rollback of the industrial age.

I'm using Thunderbird and couldn't get aioe to work, it kept asking for
username and password.

I've just switched without any problem. Created a new newsgroup account,
specified nntp.aioe.org as the server and clicked SSL/TLS which also set
the port to 563 for me. Then all I needed do was set up my
subscriptions, export my ES killfile rules to a file and re-import them
back into the aioe account.

Thanks, in the end I created a new account in TB and it all works fine.
Great backup for when ES goes down again.
