How about an ambidextrous one?

I don't think I would buy one though.

Cut a double one in half and take the one you want.

That would be the LHS if you had a outboard switched socket.

Well funny you should say this, but many double switched sockets have one
right and one left hand socket on them. this is ideal for both left and
right handed people. :-)

There have been many novelty sockets over the years, like ones that glow
orange when switched on etc. Never did understand the reason.

I was in Aldi today and they had some switched 13amp socket on their
price reduced 'remainders' racks. They had the socket holes as normal
the switch above, but horizontal and slightly right of the centre line.

Where are these "price reduced 'remainders' racks" usually ?

None obvious in our Aldi, but its only been open 5
weeks so maybe they don't have any need for them yet.

Just been there half an hour ago and there is nothing like that in ours.

Presumably because they have only been open for 5 weeks.

In both Lidl and Aldi, the specials are in a row down the middle of the
stores. Aldi uses the far end of the specials row for their reduced
specials, those which have not sold out. They mark them up with red
cards above the row, sometimes with stick on labels too.

A new store might not have any left over specials stock.

In both the Lidl stores near here, the 'left over' specials are at the
checkout end of the aisle. The latest offers at the far end.

But they might have 'new store' specials stock!

Our Aldi opens less than a mile away next month. I will be finding out
the specials in advnace - not least because one of my sons will be
working there.

I opted for emails from Lidl giving the weeks special offers. If anything
attracts, you can go online for more details. Think Aldi offer the same -
but there's not a big Aldi anywhere near here.

I'm sure some of Adam's apprentices do exactly that.

Including watching videos of young ladies demonstrating said unusual appliances!

Aldi do too, but like Lidl you need to subscribe to receive them.

The Grand designs program, where a Huff Haus was built somewhere in
Surrey showed that all the 3 pin sockets were like this.

Yes, that is certain how ours is done.

OK, nothing there yet, presumably because
it hasn't been open long enough yet.

Thanks for that.

Yeah, bet that's it. 5 weeks isnt long and the locals have
been pouring thru. There is another relatively new one
in the next town over, but it's a much smaller store, went
into an existing store in a mall. Ours was built on a bare
block of land and is quite a bit flasher than most other
Aldis I have been in, proper tiled floor, not concrete and
fancy designer lights over the special offer row. Allegedly
one of the best Aldis in the country.
