Default Monobloc tap mounting.

I fitted a new monoblock kitchen sink tap yesterday, one from Lidl...

http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-...etail&id=40854

....and very good it is too.

However, progress was slowed by having to drill a new hole for the
threaded rod. The last two taps here had their threaded rod behind the
pipes, this one was in front, and of course that discovery was made at
the latest possible time.

No biggie, but I had assumed these would all be the same. It seems not.

Cheers

Could it not simple be rotated by 180 degrees?

I guess having in front is an improvement for access?

That was my first thought - but the picture he cited was of a single
lever tap - so the lever would be at the back if you did that!

I can't work out why you had to drill a hole? I've installed dozens &
dozens of monoblock taps & never had to do that.

I had this hole arrangement in the sink unit (studding, hot, cold)...

S
H C
front

....but needed this...

H C
S
front

....and with the lever to the front, there was no way to change it. I
was a bit taken aback, as I'd thought there would be a common standard.

Which way is usual in your experience?

*** A little later that evening ***

I think I've just had a revelation after looking on YouTube. You don't
need three holes, just one big one. I must have fitted the original
over twenty years ago and didn't have a suitable hole cutter. D'oh.

Cheers
