Doing God's work

A fresh tally of casualties killed in a stampede near the holy city of Mecca last month has raised the death toll to 1,453, making this year's incident the deadliest recorded during the hajj. The figure, compiled by the Associated Press, was gathered from officials and statements by 19 countries whose citizens were declared dead at the pilgrimage. The figure is substantially higher than official Saudi figures. The kingdom's government had placed the death toll at 769 during the stampede near Mina, a religious site outside Mecca, where religious rites are conducted as part of the pilgrimage. The incident sparked a diplomatic row. Iran, which announced that of 465 of its nationals were killed, blamed regional rival Saudi Arabia for failing to protect worshippers at Islam's holiest sites and condemning its leadership. http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews...453/ar-AAfh2yI is Nothing good about Saudi Arabia |

Maybe they do, but unfortunately they seem to have this head in the sand
attitude to criticism about most things. Its about time they got wise and simply only allowed a certain number of people in at a time. Due to our ability to travel these days, so many more people can go and visit these places than they were ever intended to sustain. Simply trying to limit things by guiding people in via different methods was shown to have failed some years ago, and apart from some messing around at the edges, and installing more cctv there seems to be little or no proper crowd control. We have seen in the this country what happens when crowd control goes wrong so its a well studied issue. They after all are not short of a few bob are they? Maybe they do, No maybe about it. but unfortunately they seem to have this head in the sand attitude to criticism about most things. They do get it right with women drivers. Its about time they got wise and simply only allowed a certain number of people in at a time. Just not feasible with that stoning of the devil silly stuff that produced so many corpses. Simply trying to limit things by guiding people in via different methods was shown to have failed some years ago, and apart from some messing around at the edges, and installing more cctv there seems to be little or no proper crowd control. Proper crowd control just isn't possible with that many people. Even the yanks can't manage that with events like the million man march which doesn’t happen every year and which is a much smaller scale than what happens there every year. We have seen in the this country what happens when crowd control goes wrong so its a well studied issue. Yes, but there is no way to handle that many completely safely. Your football matches aren't a patch on what they get numbers wise. They after all are not short of a few bob are they? That's not the problem. "Rod Speed" wrote in message ...
