Default Oh dear it seems like a bodge job from someone that IS qualified

I am not slagging off my apprentice for a change.

http://wiki.diyfaq.org.uk/index.php?...ile:Tapoff.jpg

That is a Bus bar tap off from a 100A bus bar that should have 3 x 16 fuses
in the tap off.

When I phoned the ****** who installed it (the co. name was on the install
sticker) to tell him what was wrong he said "someone must have stolen the
fuses I put in".

Of course they did:-)

And the magic pixies also stole the fuses from your other taps offs as well.

And they did a _very_ neat job of extending the wires, didn't they?

Yes. The tart could have crimped some eyelets on those wires. No class.

Mmmm nice ;-)

So what is the protective device rating at the origin of that bus bar?

I wonder if he did a calculation to see if the 70% of the strands he
actually bothered to terminate would be adequately fault protected?

Wonder if he could have used a longer bolt on that banjo tag?

How stupid can some people be?

Actually leaving his ID attached to the job? Now that IS stupid.

They were from that new trade association, distrust a trader.com from your
explanation.
A friend had a Kitchen fitted some 15 years ago and when it came time to
change the cupboards again recently behind the hardboard back of one of the
covers was a junction box fitted into a jagged hole in the wall with one
naill and one screw with all the incoming wires from the under cupboard
lighting wired in in a big bodge. a case of out of sight out of mind
obviously.
I'm always a bit suspicious of traders myself as they do tend to have
bodgers as well as good people on their staff.

Nah, those few strands _are_ the protective element ;-)

Not only did they steal the fuses and extend the cables - only one out of
the 6 electricians shown the photo this morning made the same comment about
extending the cables:-) - the thieving *******s also slackened off the banjo
nut so that it was only finger tight and messed with his SWA cleats to make
his work look untidy.

http://wiki.diyfaq.org.uk/index.php?title=File:005.jpg

http://wiki.diyfaq.org.uk/index.php?title=File:003.jpg

And I am not afraid to show my re-installation of the same cable at the
other side of the door.

http://wiki.diyfaq.org.uk/index.php?title=File:004.jpg

It was a bit tight at the top next to the saddle but at least I moved the
Kopex to the right of the SWA.
