Default Well, that was not expected

Gas board have had the entire street dug up laying a replacement gas
main, to replace the original one which is rusting and leaking. They
have been causing chaos for a couple of weeks now and expect to be
still at it after Christmas.

They are running the new main first, then running the pipes up the
drive last.

This morning they came around delivering Christmas cards - hope they
are not staying for Christmas dinner. :-)

If you have an internal meter and want it moved outside now is the time to do it as they will do it for free.

Tricky Dicky submitted this idea :

it as they will do it for free.

Thanks, but we had it moved outside 30+ years ago.

Which 'fluid' does your gas board normally supply then?

Nothing in the subject or body mentions gas (or anything).

Nothing in TD's reply maybe, but did you see HB's original message?

I get the feeling that Harry's OP hasn't propogated - this is the second mix

Tricky Dicky's initial reply wasn't flagged as "", although the
headers did reference Harry's original. It's entirely possible that some
newsreaders are failing to thread correctly, making TD's post look like
the first. There wasn't any quoted text in TD's reply, either, making it
look like just a bit of a strange original.

My gas board used to supply my electricity. I now get my
electricity from a water company.

I'd rather not have one of those ugly boxes on the outside of the house -
and I read my own meter anyway.

They're only really practical and aesthetically fitting if
they're those ones that are recessed into the thickness of
the wall itself, not blu-takked onto the outside of the wall.

Given this is being done after the build and for free, blutack it is.

But even when installed as neatly as possible they still stick out like a
sore thumb. And who reading this can't do their own meter readings?

When I lived in Michigan, USA, the meter wasn't in a box, it was just
screwed to the wall, and so was only about 3/4 inch deep, and quite
unobtrusive. And they have real weather there, watch the news right now.
