I noticed on my bill that they are going back to standing charges, I guess that's because of people cutting down on consumption they'll be spending less and the componaies will make less profit.

True, but we all know who removed it for even younger children.

So why do we remember chants and protests in the street for the person

Because Thatcher removed it for small children first, in a previous
Tory government.
I think.
No, secondary schools lost it first under the Wilson government, then
as a Tory minister before she became party leader, Thatcher removed
it from primary schools in line with stated government policy.

All this is well documented.

Treasury removed the funding for it whilst Thatcher was education
minister. Arguably she didn't remove it at all.

Indeed. Which is why I am voting UKIP today.

I doubt I would ever vote for a single issue party. I wonder why UKIP
is fielding candidates for local elections anyway. The EU is a
national issue.

Although there is no doubt that the EU is an utter mess I've no idea
whether we'd actually be better off outside it.

I have never in my life seen such a blatant set of smearcampaigns
emanating from the press as I have seen over the last 5 days for a LOCAL
election. Cameron is even promising an EU referendum (for the 3rd or 4th
time) !

This is an establishment that is ****ting its pants.

Labour is smiling thinking 'this is the tory party split in two' they
haven't yet seen the pull that UKIP is exerting on LABOUR voters.

AFAIK UKIP take most of their votes from disaffected tories although
they are attracting some labour supporters. The EU debate is harming
the tories more than any other large party.

Of course it will all be forgotten in the run-up to the next general
election.

The point is that we are stuck with whatever mess they deliver to us.

WE cannot escape their ineptitude.

No it won't.

I can guarantee that.

I beleive in code re-use.

void Left_Algorithm()
{
generic_algorithm(true);
}

void Right_Algorithm
{
generic_algorithm(false);
}

void generic_algorithm(bool left)
{

if (findSomethingWrong(0))
{
if (left)
blamePreviousToryGovernment();
else
blamePreviousLabourGovernment()

You can guess the rest...
