Default Checking an unfitted combi boiler for faults

Hi

In a moment of madness I bought a ariston micro genus 2 off ebay
(brand new and in the box supposedly)

Are there any quick checks I can make to spot any big problems to the
boiler when I pick it up?

Thanks in advance

Quite.

Most people on there are far more honest than the average trader. They
wouldn't last five minutes if they weren't. Just check up on their
feedback before dealing.

I agree. I have bought some useful stuff off eBay. Mostly stuff where I
think "well it would be good to have one if I could find one at a price I can
afford".

The boilers which come on tend not to be premium units, which is my only
comment for the OP. Also they usually go for prices which are well over
half the trade price, at this level the uncertainty v. cost saving tips
the balance, for me at least.

I know of a least 2 big traders on Ebay who have switched to a new ID after
adverse feedback and to avoid paypal clawback.
Paypal (now owned by ebay) security is also a joke. Someone managed to
register my credit card with paypal even though he didn't have the security
number. After making £1k of Ebay puchases in one day the CC company blocked
the card and clawed back the amounts. As the sellers were stupid enough to
ship to a different address than the card holders, they will have to take
the hit.

Then anyone dealing with them should be very careful as with anyone with
little feedback.
Have you reported this 'fact' to Ebay?

Yup, one is being investigated for fraud...
Good feedback can be "self generated" as you are probably aware.
