Just waiting now. Saws are all set gen sets ready. Vehicles are fueled.
If it does what is predicted the next couple days might be very cold and
wet. I'm hoping that flooding isn't as bad as it was over the past few
years. Not fun running around pumping out basements....

there are some other pictures of the boat rolling over in the surf but I
don't have the url for them.

The tidal surge is what will do the most damage. Even some of the boats
that were pulled out of the marinas will be floated with the surge. I
managed to move mine behind a tidal flood gate so the surge will not
affect it.

Sure seemed to me that he was handing it just fine. Much like boating
on Lake Superior in fact, most of the year.

How did that happen? He screwed up coming back in? If you find the
links..post em?

That wave action wasnt all that bad in fact. Shrug and the "surf"wasnt
very high. From my observation, he proceeded in a safe and proper
manner. But then..I only grew up and learned to sail and power boat
from the Power Squadron on the upper Great Lakes...got my Coast Guard
card about the age of 12 as I recall.

Unless the waves go over the top...then you will have a nice insurance
claim in the loop.

The flood gates are about 20 feet high. They are also in a protected
channel.

I bet you did this too on the lake. Here are some pictures of the same
boat after it made a turn along the beach.

Up here in Central Ontario it was a bit windy - a few trees and
branches down - a few signs destroyed - and a bit wet - but it's been
wet for a week or so trying to make up for our summer drought.

All in all not much of an event this side of the lakes.

Did what also? Tried ****ing around on the surf line? Only in a
Whaler with a big engine. That guy screwed up badly when he started
****ing off on the surf line. Its far far calmer out a bit and he
should have run out a ways and then ran the coast. Either he is an
idiot, or he wasnt paying any attention to where he was at when he
decided to run the coast.

I rather suspect there are going to be a lot of boats coming up on the
market in the next several months. Boats beat to **** in heavy seas in
their slips in the marinas.

Ebay will start showing them about January, once the insurance
companies have got em squared away.

And I bet I can get you a real good deal on a nice car out of NYC.

At least the taxis finally got a bath...

Sort of sucks though since they no longer make the CV.

Upstate had MUCH less than forecast. Some gusty wind but less than 1/2"
of rain.
Basically a non-event so far. Power was out for about 17 hrs.

Seen a lot of the folks who REFUSED to evacuate whining that they wanted
to be rescued. My opinion is that if you stayed behind and now need
rescue you should pay for the assist.

Maybe it was bad, some where near you. I never lost power, but tens of

Here in northern CT it was pretty much a non-event. For me it turned
over an empty trash can, dropped a few branches, and not much else.
Accuweather and the Governor were telling me that the sky was falling
the whole time.

My yard was covered in about 18" of water. One of my job boxes ended up a
block down the road. Glad I stayed, the neighbor two doors down got robbed.
Just got power back and I'm pumping out the basement.

You are very lucky to have gotten your power back so quickly, after having

With 4 million people without power, suckas are going to be powerless for
weeks.

Yeah, considerable looting.... I thought dat **** only happened in race

Westchester is an effing mess, NJ too. Whole towns are without power.

I lucked out. For once, I didn't lose power, and the assholes in their
mansions across the street did lose it.

Luckily, it didn't take the entirity of the last block's leaves and
deposit all of -them- on your property, either. Thank your lucky
stars, Gerry.

We're having a whopper of a storm series out here. They have dropped
nearly an INCH of rain in the past week. 6mph winds with gusts to 12.
I think I prefer our smaller storms to your whopper storms, guys.

Getting ready for the disruptions that may come after the election
and/or the Great Cull, I ordered a minor student medical kit (Paki
forceps, scalpel, scissors, tweezers, holder for $9), extra povidone,
sutures (dozen, with needles for $12), emergency food for a month, a
portable ham radio (studying for the license now), extra medical
supplies (tampons/pads/tape/butterflies), extra ammo for each gun,
stocked up on water, etc. Some I've had for months, some is in the
mail now, due today.

Is everybody ready for the pahhhhhhty? sigh

Interesting thought. With the up coming cull, medical care may be
overwhelmed, with riot victims. Never know, you might be safer to stay home,
and take care of your own lacerations, etc.

The water, food, medical supplies, always wise to have at home. Some in the
car, also, in case you're away from home.

All of the power companies should have powered down just before the
storm hit, and then brought it back up bit at a time after checking
damage. Would have prevented virtually all of the fire damage and
hundreds of millions of dollars in damage to the grid.
