What size wire do i need for 50 amp 240 volt rv plug at 240 feet run?

I just tried to get #6 triplex Cu at the local supplier (there's only one in small market town) and they didn't even stock it. Of course, pulling the full 50A is probably quite unlikely, but depending on what are the loads, max of 3% is pretty-much recommended for stuff with motors; efficiency suffers pretty heavily beyond that and if there's anything with harder starting, may be iffy... -- |

I'd never have guessed that an RV needed a 50 amp service - - during power outages I'll run my whole house on my 5000 watt portable generator - the 230 volt receptacle on the generator is labeled 18.8 amps.
